Sega Naomi Upright monitor retrofit...

Post by classiccor83 »

The monitor in Naomi Upright has some significant screen burn in so I have always wanted to replace it, a 42inch ex display plasma screen came up for free from my dad's work place. It's an SD display used for the odd presentation in the foyer etc.

Well I didn't think it would work but after having my naomi unit on the table whilst checking for the problems with my dead Naomi 2 board I thought it would be perfect to try it... And surprise surprise it worked 1st time.... So now how the hell am I gonna bolt the thing to my cabinet?!

I'll keep this post upto date with any progress I make... If any... And a pic to show it working!

Sounds like someone lacks a sense of humour!
And maybe foolish in your opinion... Thankfully it's just that... Opinion!

When all's done I'll be able to restore the cabinet to it's natural state so all's well that ends well! ;)

I actually think they look kind of good. If the alternative is to just buthcer the cab for parts after a monitor died why not. Alot of the screens in these seemed to be **** from the getgo.

The top screen is a bit overkill though. And something need to be done about the lack of bezel.

Sitting that close to those massive screens would make my eyes bleed. Those cabs are screaming "please... kill... me"

I have to say something like that has also already crossed my mind... The big screen and the screen on top is overkill. But with a 32" vertical screen and a fitting bezel I could imagine this wouldn't look too bad. And I would place the "instruction strip" on the bottom of th screen.

I thought the same thing... Finish it off and it would be OK!
Chop of the top screen and we're good!

My hope is that we get decent screens that can be ordered with custom dimensions in a few years. Let´s hope it doesn´t take 20-30.
Are these images from www.gamoover.net? Would be interested to see them be finished.

Not to my liking, but it's not a bad idea. Beats having a super small screen if you use a widescreen monitor in horizontal orientation.
