Hi.
I can't open my AstroCity panel anymore.
It used to work for years: Put both keys into the locks on the panel, turned, and open.
Now, one lock refuses to open with all keys I tried.
That happend some month ago too, but some hours later it was open again.
Now, it wont open anymore.
Is there a quick fix?
Or do I have to shout at it util it falls out?
I'd not like to talk to Mr.Driller.
Ideas?

Re: Lock won't open anymore.
Mine needs considerable pressure applied on the control panel for the key to turn. The tang catches on the latch. I probably should look into fixing it before I snap the key...

Re: Lock won't open anymore.
Perhaps quite obvious, but you might want to try to spray in some kind of oil spray.
Not sure which one would work the best for locks though.
Let us know what works best. Sooner or later we'll all have to deal with this unless we change locking locks in time before the lock.

I thought .. maybe ... the lock lost its magnetism? Will try Oil tonight. Too bad the lock is facing downwards, so dripping oil into it may not be as easy. Will try!

apply **light** pressure to the control panel while twisting the lock is the way I do it.

Re: Lock won't open anymore.
He has a good point.. Also, removing the lock nut might be possible from the "inside"..
When you get it open, remove the lock. you only need one to keep it closed.

Re: Lock won't open anymore.
Ok, the lock is open again.
I found my "favourite" key, which looks like the oldest key I use. I call it my favourite key, because it got my favourite sonic/rose-key-ring.
Ok, with that key, the lock opened, although all the other 5575 keys worked on all the other 5575 locks. but this key seems to be the only works on that one lock.
Ok, it is open again. Will replace that lock with a new 5575 lock. I think i got one left. I hope.
Thanks guys!

Re: Lock won't open anymore.
Incidentally... I ended up removing my control panel locks as I find that I need access to the world below the control panel so often that the locks and the keys get kind of old very fast.
Having it lockless does not seem to affect playing as the control panel is heavy enough not to lift on its own or anything like that.
