Fixing SEGA locks?

Post by zumbito »

Apparently many of my cabinets include a sega 5575 locks, the problem is not all of them work.

Just wanted to know, is it possible to fix this locks or they are just junk? If possible how?

Have you tried WD40 or something?

If it's the PCB door, push on it whilst turning, they can be a bit tight on the Blast.

Graphite is imho the best choice for locks.

You can buy it as a purpose made dry powder lubricat very cheaply or you can rub your pencil on whatever you want lubricate (although this method is not ideal for locks) or just crush a bit from your pencil and use that.

if it's the cashbox lock. it could be a different dimple pattern, unique to that exact cabinet from the factory. Seems like there are lots of one off S-xxxxx , T-xxxxxx dimple keys out there.

I had some sticky astro locks , used a blade to shave off the pencil in to the lock , then used the key to smash it fine ... Took a few goes then haven't had a problem in 2 yrs ... Back to perfect ..

There are some cashbox ones. I guess dremel and change is the only option.

Ok, so today I tried to drill the locks. I could drill a hole almost through the entire lock, but as the inner side of the lock is hiden (its the coin box) I can not take it out. Any idea how to get rid of these old locks?

If you drill the entire lock the locking tongue should fall right off and you should be able to open it.

There will be a tongue, but there's also an attachment with spades for extra security, these will unlock when you turn to the tongue to unlock. You'll need to go all the way through the lock.
