Sega naomi error 26
Hey guys,
So the above error has just started appearing on my naomi 1 and I can't clear it.
I've read the error wiki...
Error 26
Display: OPTION BOARD MALFUNCTIONING.
Cause: The NAOMI board key chip can not be recognized.
Countermeasures: Make sure that you are using a correct key chip that meets the GD-ROM disk (If not so, change the present key chip with a correct one). Also make sure that the key chip is firmly inserted.
And that means exactly...? The security chip is duff? Something wrong with the motherboard?
Bear in mind I've only ever played zero 3 upper in it and it's been working perfectly for months!
I'm not sure why it would just stop working?
Any ideas? Or do I just need a new motherboard?
Cheers.

Re: Sega naomi error 26
Is your DiMM in netboot mode ?
This error happens if you install GD + PiC/keychip and let the DiMM in netboot mode.
If it's not the case, your PiC/keychip may be not the right one.

Re: Sega naomi error 26
I certainly haven't adjusted it, how do I even change it to net boot mode?
My ine doesn't have an Ethernet port so I assumed it wasn't possible to do that?

Re: Sega naomi error 26
It's possible to move the jumpers, but you can't use netbooting.
Check your serial keychip if it matches your game then : sticker 253-5509-5072 for SF Zero 3 Upper.

Re: Sega naomi error 26
Someone did a LOT of copy pasting stuff into the wiki without any personal QA or experience..
I got error 26 when experimenting with CF:

Re: Sega naomi error 26
So... I've had a play around and I still can't work it out.
I've now tried the naomi with a cart game (marvel vs capcom 2) which again, used to wrk fine and now I get an error 22! Seems to imply it's not being recognised properly.
That in itself is odd because it's recognised in the test menu!!
I'm starting to think the mobo has gone kaput but it's weird that it recognises the game but won't boot it up.
I've cleaned/checked everything so it's not a physical connection thing, also checked the switches and they're ok.
Might see if I can find another mobo....

Re: Sega naomi error 26
Check that the comm board is well seated in the DiMM board.
Error 22
Display: COMMUNICATION ERROR OCCURRED BETWEEN MAIN BOARD AND OPTION BOARD.
Cause: The NAOMI main board receives no responses from the DIMM board.
Countermeasures: Correctly reconnect the DIMM board and the GD interface board. This may occur when the daughter board on the DIMM is not properly seated. Fix includes cleaning the contacts and re-seating.

Error 22 is, as long I can remember, a kind of 'I display error22 for every not know error not listed'
It can be a lots of points to look at, but mainly connectors since you got the problem using an cart

Re: Sega naomi error 26
Yeah sorry it's an error 22 when running mvc2, error 26 when trying to run zero 3 upper.
If it was a dimm problem I would guess the cart would still work but it's not.
Spent most of the afternoon striping and cleaning everything to make sure it's all connected ok but still nothing.
I don't have another mobo to test it but I can't see a physical problem with it.
Guess I'll just have to get another mobo and take it from there.
