Naomi Hook up help

Post by wildertronix »

Hey gang,
I recently got a hold of all the needed parts for a naomi hook up. I have the capcom I/o, a systems 1 motherboard and mvc2. I have all the needed cables hooked up and the Capcom Q25 I have it hooked up in boots a white screen with black lines with no other picture. Fades to black like the normal Naomi Start up but doesnt seem to move on from there. I cant get a clear picture so I think my settings are incorrect for the type of tube I have. I have tried to settings for 15 and 31k on the motherboard but nothing appears to help. I just wanna play! Any tips would be appreciated.

Do you have a communication adapter that sits between the main board and the cartridge?

The screen looks like this as soon as it turns on then fades to nothing

Video signal out of sync. Would suggest you are feeding a 31k signal into a 15k monitor, or vice versa.

Are you sure you've set the correct dip switch on the naomi motherboard? It's dip 1 on the little block next to the usb. Should be down (off) for 15k.

Do you get sound? Even if the video is out and/or you get an error code, you should still hear the naomi "ba-ding" sound as it boots.

I agree...some wire is not right on the video. You should head the boot chime. You can use a computer monitor and set the Naomi to hi-rez as another test. Also double check the JAMMA "teeth" are properly aligned on the I/O.

None of the dipswitch settings seem to be helping, nor on the I/O board. I dont get any sound either, and Ive tried 2 different cabs. Im starting to think its the motherboard or one of the other components!

Is the Naomi mobo fan spinning when you power it on?

It was actually 5.35, not 5.1. The fan cranks up as soon as the cab receives power. I tried a different cart as well to rule out the cart itself being wonky.

Well thats no good! Is it possible to lower it easily or is this a sign that something is going wrong with the mobo?

It should be an adjustment on the cab PSU. I don't remember if there is one on the Capcom I/O or not.

My PSU doesnt have much for voltage regulation. Ill toss the Naomi in my Blast and see if I get the same readings from the 5v.

Got better readings on the blast but cant seem to get any picture or sound at all from it, even after toying with the dipswtiches on the mobo and control board for the blast. Not sure if the problem lays in the pinout or what!
