Jaleco Pony Table - Restoration (update)
Hi folks,
as some of you already know, i recently found a Pony table.
The table had a few problems, the major one being the dead (vertical colapse) Nanao MS7. I was lucky enough and managed ro repair it yesterday
Besides that, she is completely original, it only misses the player 1 start button and coin door, but the OP says he has the door somewhere at the warehouse...
I will start to strip her soon and prepare for powdercoating, wich brings me to my first question:
- Does anyone ever seen any evidence about the original color RAL???
I've never even saw a green Pony table before besides the original brochure. Obviously i can fine tune the color for a perfect match, but the RAL would be great.

It's definitely original, you can tell by the interior, besides, this one was imported directly from Japan by the OP.
I just wanted to know the exact RAL, recently a member posted a Jaleco magazine with a couple fotos i've never seen before, i wonder what other info might float on the web

Have you considered to keep the original paint?
Novus 3 2 1 may help you to refresh it.

You can't tell by this picture, but it has quite a few dents that are starting to get rusty.ArcadeSTG wrote:Have you considered to keep the original paint?

A professional paint job is really the best option IMO in order to preserve it,

I checked all the transistors in the vertical deflection section of the chassis looking for a faulty one, but they were all good. I simply put them back and the image came back to life.
Sometimes vertical colapse problems are simple cold joints that need a good reflow. I was lucky because this was one of those situations

Re: Jaleco Pony Table - Restoration
I got around 10 minutes of work time with the cab so i started to take some parts off.
This is the plaque that i mentioned before, does anyone knows what the sticker says?:
I took the monitor out:
and the control panel too:
This one was a great surprise. You only need to unscrew two bolts by hand and you take the CP out, it literally takes less than 30 seconds to do this. Awesome compared to Sega CP's.
Does anyone know the reference of the Start Button? Is is still possible to find the same buttons?
Thank you all for your interest and comments/help with this project.
PS- Sorry for the lousy phone pics

The start button looks like it is a Seimitsu DS-412.

Certainly won't be Sanwa in any case, the machine is too old.

Thank you very much for your help. They are very close, but not the same.Devil Soundwave wrote:The start button looks like it is a Seimitsu DS-412.

As you can see by the following pics, the original one is "conex" instead of "convex" and the top is transparent when you look at it from an angle.
The buttons have no text on it, and all the other buttons only have numbers writen and they are different in some cases. Maybe something that is not produced for quite some time

Re: Jaleco Pony Table - Restoration
Work done yesterday:
I started by removing the side protections (the ones that say "pony table") that hold the glass in place, and then removed the monitor bezel
Next, i started to remove all the cable holders to take all the cabling out
Now was time to flip the top part over, also remove cable holders and the "shock absorbers" that help to close the top part of the table
Next step: Remove the soft material that is used under the flyer/instructions area, luckily it came off from the glue without damaging the material, i will be able to use the original ones again
Long story short, the major area that needs intervention is ready for the paint job. I still need to prepare the rest of the cabinet parts and cover an adittional hole that the OP did to introduce credits

Wow that's an awesome find, you must be well chuffed. I've previously only seen a couple of pics of these on Yahoo Japan. Keep up the good work!

It says "Please turn off the power supply switch before plugging or unplugging the connector and printed circuit board".RMRM wrote:I got around 10 minutes of work time with the cab so i started to take some parts off.

Sounds pretty logical as it is on the PCB wooden board support
Amazing find you did here. Peculiar colour, but you should keep it that way to keep the original flavour.
The control panel seems pretty neat too !

Re: Jaleco Pony Table - Restoration
Necro Bump Time!!! lolz
Basically, i've finished the restoration in around 1 month time, but as always i'm too lazy to take pictures
Done:
-Burnt
-Sandblasted
-Powdercoated
-Chromed (the feet)
There are still some thing to do, like getting some key locks; a dust washer, and remove the joystick to clean because they are a bit rusty. But al least it's working
