Advice Request For Cab Lifting (Case Closed)

Post by Suge13 »

Guys assistance required please. I've made an horrific miscalculation with the weight of this damn but lovely looking thing. Received it yesterday and assumed myself and my mate could lift or drag it across the stairs; no such luck and that's with the CP removed. Carrying from the bottom was fine being on top just wasn't happening as the width of the stairs is just wide enough to fit the cab leaving no space for any errors at it had to remain straight (too heavy to keep a straight lift); plus it didn't help with the coin entry thing sticking out (could not unscrew it, need impact driver).

I was wondering what tools you've guys have used to get this thing up stairs and apart from the CP is there anything else I can strip off this cab to make lifting easier. Previously had a Naomi Uni though that was taken apart for easier lifting.

Do you guys think either these two appliances will do the trick:

You can take the monitor out which will shed about 50kg, place it face down on a towel. Be careful not to break the fragile glass neck though.

That's how I got an E2 upstairs (and then back down again when it left). I upnlugged the yoke/neckcard/anode/degauss, undid the 4 screws on the wooden backboard holding the rotate-mech in place and lifted the whole thing off still on the mech.

I took the whole load from the bottom. :fastlove: Carpeted stairs are essential though, it doesn't look like your stairs are very slidey. :(

I took the Monitor out of my Blast City to move it upstairs, makes things a hell of a lot easier.

Thirded taking the monitor out. Along with the coin box, doors, and any other removable bits. Heck the front comes off without much trouble.

Removing the monitor is a lot of unnecessary work IMO.

Unscrewing the little metal thingie for the coins is essential IMO, then just strap the cab sideways on a trolly and two regular sized men can easily carry the weight up stairs. It's easy to get a good hold then so the weight isn't as bad.

Taking the monitor out is cheaper than buying a trolley and straps.

Just be **** careful with the tube as the tube/chassis isn't in a frame like the Sega cabs. Whatever you do don't Kern it.

Make sure the tube is discharged and make sure you have disconnected all of the cables from the chassis. When you pull the tube make sure there is an extra person around to help in case a loose wire/cable get's caught on the tube or cab.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Removing the monitor is just not an option for me; cannot or will not take the risk of necking it.

Thanks guys for all thr suggestion

I had exactly the same problem and had to lift the machine vertically up the stairs and over the top banister, Iirc it took four people. If you take the monitor out you should be able to carry it up the stairs above the banisters with just two.

Sell it and buy a cab which doesn't use a frameless monitor. Not worth the stress.
