Same as cools.

I was thinking about using a supergun (MAK Strike from Arcade Forge along with upscaler and scanlines) and use a Capcom I/O when needed.

Out of the box a Vewlix D lacks any JVS or Nesica interface :palm:

I guess the left one is the JVS IO board and the right one is the Nesica IO board.

It seems that the Nesica IO board is connected to the ethernet port of the JVS card of TX2, but I am not really sure about this point.

In addition, the ethernet port of the TX2 mainboard is connected to the Nesica server, but this is my conclusion from the observation of the follwoing picture and this could be very wrong:

I believe that the above picture is a setup from taito to show the lowest lag of the nesica IO vs the JVS IO.

Any chance anyone still has the original photo's from this? I'm looking at a Vewlix and trying to figure out if it's a genuine Japanese F model or Chinese...

It's very easy to figure out :

At the bottom of the screen, you'll notice 2 stickers on the HP speakers, one (on the left) should be yellow and white, the second (on the right), should be red and white, if your Vewlix F is a genuine one.

If it's a chinese one, both stickers should the same ones.

Hmm don't think the one with the LAN port is anything to-do with Nesica - Ain't this just Taito's new fast switching I/O?? Which is a mini PCI/Express x 1 card and uses RJ45 cables to connect to the I/O PCB?? It's not JVS at all, it's obviously a lot faster than serial coms.

Darius Burst was the first to use the fast switching I/O boards - although technically I see no difference in performance in gameplay other JVS - as the games are generally locked to 60FPS, maybe if games are running 120FPS then you'd need faster protocol.

Dunno why they don't just use HID/USB2 for I/O now, as they are all running PCs anyway and mostly windows (in fact a lot of these Windows PC arcade games have DirectInput support - sometimes enabled/sometimes disabled - although mostly the insert coin and service/test buttons are not mapped to DirectInput).

I was wondering if anyone have a manual for the Vewlix Versus.
Also, can they be split to 2 separate cabs?

AS much as I try, I can't see any difference between Chinese and JApanese Viewlix. Are Chinese suppossed to be inferior quality?

Overall quality.
It's the same difference between a $2 hammer and a $10 one.
The $2 hammers works, but you keep that feeling, each time you use it, it's cheap.

well i understand theirs differences with the monitors, lag and all.

do the Chinese ones not use sanwa parts?
is the wiring shoddy?
what about the construction of the cab quality? does it feel flimsy, does the material fall apart after a months use?

It uses Sanwa, BUT I have a feeling Sanwa is heavily bootlegged in China. Just a personal feeling, so don't quote me on that, I would need to research that and I just don't care.

As for your questions, it's not that it will fall appart (although, the "JVS" boards on these are a joke), it's just about you in the end : do you see the difference between buying a cloth at H&M and Versace ? If you don't go China.

H&M is budget clothes. Cheap both in price and quality.
Versace is gentleman clothes. Expensive and high quality.
If you don't know much arcades, the Chinese will be good enough for you.
