Fitting a Naomi lamp...

Post by chubsta »

Have just got hold of a replacement lamp assembly for my naomi, it didnt have anything there befor except the power leads so im unsure as to how to proceed...

i have fixed it in the right place, and connected up te earth and power, but there is a large tube-shaped thing marked 'cambrige capacitors' hanging off the front of the assembly and im not sure how to place it - can it just be left tucked up somewhere or i am supposed to put it in a particular place?

Also, the bits where the bulb actually plugs in are just two 'end caps' with a couple of holes in - does the tube just fit in there?

Any pictures of a fully functioning naomi cab unit showing me how it all goes together will help if anyone has any?

And finally, what tube do i need to get?

thnks :D

chubsta, IIRC Joeblade obtained a few bulbs when he was going through a similar problem (in the end it was a ballast fault) he may have some spare tubes, however he's not been online much lately - but if I speak to him this week i'll ask him, I know he's fairly closeby to you

I fitted a lamp the other day. I wanted a soft tone yellowish and not too bright! Well, that's what I wanted and bought and it looks brilliant and doesn't distract at all and gices a nice orangy light (now together with the red translucent plastic in front!)

They just tuck that behind the top monitor bracket (black one) or under the lamp, there is no fixing for it.

Yes, do you have the two metal clips that hold the lamp? They arent part of the lamp holder..

Tube is a 2FT 20W T12 (sega state 40W but try and find one!)
A lot of place have stoped with the T12, a thinner T8 will work but youe metal clips will be bigger, nothing a cable tie around the top wont fix..

If you need a picture let me know..
