Putting a dreamcast in a cab...
OK, im lazy, the info is out there but i get confused easily too, basically i have a Naomi cab that has got the monitor wired up (its 31khz and has a vga cable attached), and i also have a pal dreamcast.
I want to put the dreamcast in the cabinet, and have it set up so that i just put a disc in, it boots, and i can play loads of lovely shooters.
I will be ok connecting the dc to the mains in the cab, thats easy, but getting the dc to connect to the monitor (vga cables for dc - easy to get hold of or would i need a custom job) and work with my 2l12b panel is another matter - it currently has no wiring to it except a keyboard encoder for mame, there is no normal naomi leads etc in there, or jamma. i have no skills so perhaps someone who has done this could ...
a. explain in words of 2 sylables or less how it is done
b. think about doing all the leads for me (for cash of course)
any advice appreciated!
cheers

I'm gonna be doing these.
Basically you need a VGA box, then that;s the video sorted.
For the controls, it's a basic controller hack.
How many players do you want?

Can you PM me about the Hacked Dreamcast Controllers too. I could possibly do with a couple.

Otherwise, if you run it at 32hkz games that were made for 15khz look like total donkey since they were not really made for high res output.
I'm going to add to this guide tonight when I use a 74ls04 to try to make the VGA box put out negative sync signals.

And very nice they are too.dj_johnnyg wrote:I'm gonna be doing these.
The technical parts of my Dc to cab conversion are done. Just a few minor things to do like "flash" the boot screen to the orange swirl, and tidying the wiring up

Re: Putting a dreamcast in a cab...
have got the hacked pads from dj_johnnyg and a vga box from CPS2, even managed to fix my Dreamcast by adjusting the laser!
Cant beleive how much nicer everything looks in vga than it did thru scart on my 40" LCD, now all i need to do it rotate the screen back to horizontal so i can play the damn games!!
