Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
Sorry if this is a duplicate thread...
I want to replace both sticks and buttons in my Astro City with the original Green and Pink colours but not sure what to order.
I've seen a few on eBay that look similar in colour but don't want to order anything until I know I'm ordering the correct ones
Also my cab only has 4 buttons per player, if I wanted to wire up an extra 2 per player would this be easy to do?
Sorry for all the noOB questions

The stock buttons are green & pink OSBF-30:

...yellow OSBF-24 for the start buttons:

...balltops are green and pink LB-35:

...and Andy has extra button looms here:

Connect one end to the socket under the CP and the quick disconnects to the corresponding buttons.
Hope that's helpful

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
One final thing, I was looking at the actual sticks and there pretty rusty and maybe not as good as they should be.
Which sticks should I replace them with?

A lot will depend onwhat mounts you have on your cp. It will either be sanwa or seimitsu plate.

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
Looks like a Seimitsu LS-32.
http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/products/LS-32.htm"
Don't get the LS-32-01 or 02 as they have different connectors.

You're going to be happy, remember to make left side (P1) green and right side (P2) Pink.

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
You should be pairing Seimitsu buttons with those LS-32s. Just my opinion, but sanwa are quite ****.

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
For what it's worth the original Sega panel comes with Sanwa sticks & buttons. Your panel will likely be a licenced panel by Seimitsu, hence the mounting plate for an LS-32.
It's not a crime to mix Seimitsu sticks with Sanwa buttons and vice versa I reckon! It's a matter of personal preference really. See how you get on with these and swap them out later if they don't agree with you. I myself prefer Sanwa buttons but get on just fine with Seimitsus too, although the next man you ask might disagree.
I can send you a couple of Seimitsu screw-ins (I don't have any snap-ins at the mo) if you'd like to compare?

What's actually different between the two? Is it Cosmetic, the connection or just the feel?

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
You're welcome
Both are connected with the same size quick disconnects so there's no difference as far as that's concerned. There's some cosmetic difference - Seimitsus are a little less convex/more flat, especially the snap-ins which, from memory, are a little flatter even than the screw-ins. I guess there's a slight difference in feel because of this too. Where the screw-ins are concerned the nuts are different but the same diameter and thread pitch so you can use Sanwa nuts on Seimitsu buttons and vice versa.
The main difference is the feel. Sanwas are a good deal more sensitive than Seimitsus and you feel very little resistance when you press them - you don't have to press them far for the switch to activate. I'm guessing just from feel alone that the activation distance, for want of a better phrase, is slightly greater with Seimitsus.
I don't know all the precise data with regards to activation distance, pressure etc - that's just getting silly imo - but the best way is to try them and see which ones you prefer
Did your panel come with Seimitsu or Sanwa buttons?

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
Sounds like I'd probably preferr the ones I've ordered
I'm not sure which buttons I have, will check later this morning. One thing I've noticed with the buttons that are currently installed are they aren't very responsive but I'm not sure if that's because of wear and tear or not.

Re: Official Astro City Joystick/Button Replacement
I can believe that, there seems to be a mixture of buttons to be honest but the ones labelled are Sanwa.
