Any MVS-U4 Owners Out There

Post by nerdygrrl »

I have a chance to pick up an MVS-U4 locally and was wondering what folks think of the cab. Do you love it? Hate it? Is it prone to any sort of disaster? Will it satisfy my Neo Geo craving (I sold my big red and have regretted it ever since).

Update: I just picked up the wee little beast! Thanks for the input everyone.

Have never seen one in the flesh, but would be a sweet cab to own. Whats the price? Would love a neo candy some day 8-)

Sorry for all of the newbie questions, Candies are just so new to me. When it comes to the old wood guys I have all of my bases covered. The options are so limited here that I don't want to make stupid purchasing decisions. I love the Neo Geo MVS system, but I was not sure how this candy held up versus the others in their lineup.

I just sold two cabs (neo geo cabaret and a Gyruss) and I am going to use that money to buy the MVS. So essentially it is like trading for this one which feels pretty good.

The cabaret and the Gyruss? Nah, they are easy to come by out here. This is my second Gyruss. The guy traded me some $$$ and the cabaret for it and I have an interested party in the cabaret already.

Oh my that is pretty gorgeous! You just made my 'decision' easier. I feel like this should hold me over why I am waiting for the bits and bots to come in on the Egret 2 restore.

Maybe I'll put white buttons in mine. I have normal neo geo button colours but that looks badass.

IMHO I think they are very attractive cabs so I would say, snap it up if the condition/price is right.

The price is fair. I am going to try and get over there tomorrow to have a look at it. This week has just been hectic at work. Not to mention, a pin came up at an unbelievable price and I may end up snagging that tonight. I also found a beautiful 100% original working Joust for dirt cheap and JROK is about to do another run of multi boards. Too many options this week.

And it is in the car for the evening until I figure out how I am going to get the husky fellow in. My god, it weighs more than the Egret!

Hi all,

Here is my recently completed restoration on my monster MVS-U4-33

The cab itself was in mint condition when I picked it up and no paint was required at all.

I gave it a good clean, installed new Seimitsu LS-32 joysticks and color correct buttons, new light tube with starter, new CP with new carriage bolts, MVS sticker and side stripes. What is left is replacing the crooked stainless steel profile at the front bottom.

Have I missed any stickers or graphics that was original on this cabinet?

Came with 5 game carts in original boxes with marquees, instructions and all; KOF 96, ADK, Ghost Pilots, Andro Dunos and Super Sidekicks.

The cab plays well so far (touch wood), screen is excellent with no signs of wear.

I'm very pleased with the outcome!

Cheers, Joe
