i think it's about time i learned to do this.. i know about plugging the board in and putting the multimeter on the 5v and ground lines of the board but what do you actually have to doto adjust the 5v on the power supply.. is there a dial or something and where would it be located???

Hi Charlie,
On top of the powersupply, or somewhere on the surface depending on the version f PSU you have, there will be a little hole.
Carefully insert a trimmig tool (or an insulated electrical screwdriver) and turn gently until the blade drops into/finds the top of the pot head.
Connect up the probes of your meter, and turn the pot slowly until you've hit your desired voltage. (I always thought an extra limb would be useful for this bit)
Best measured at the pcb edge connetor BTW.
