Gave it my best shot with dreamcast version.
Using settings: arcade - play by arcade rules.
I have previously also played the game with a cabinet and as far as I can tell the only real difference is the cabinet has a very nice steering wheel and a better screen Thumbstick and pc monitor isn´t quite as nice.
Other than that it is pretty much the same code or a very accurate port as Naomi and Dreamcast are so much alike
Getting past 6000 mark required something like 20 retries.
You can beat me! I got stuck in a tree for quite a while
$6,508,22! As you can tell I need to set the clock on my dreamcast as it has reverted to factory settings...it's really not a score from 15 years ago ha! I manged this score using the controller but I've since been using the dc wheel which is more authentic but harder

I was playing the PC version after getting a bit hooked on it at the arcade, and it was only then that I really clearly noticed the people in the ocean, so I think it must be quite different visually. Also don't you boost and drift differently in the console version? I find I only pull off the boost about 1 out of 5 times.
You have to basically perma boost in this game to play at a high level, I used to be really good at it and tried to play it years later when I fell off and sucked hard so I sold my Dreamcast stuff. This is a fun, simple game but a stressful one to play at a high level
I think I'm having the most fun when it's glitching out and I'm sliding into a wall. The physics are just so satisfying and fun, so I'm not really that concerned if I don't always get a good score.
