Normal course
quarkstarmuffin - 18,565,680 - Flame Viper - [A] - 6 (Stage Edit)

Picked up the pcb about a month ago. I initially preferred playing Saber Tiger, but ended up switching to Flame Viper once I started learning the multiplier system because it seems to make milking on the 1st boss a lot easier. I'm pretty close to getting a 1-cc on normal but the rank seems to beat me down in stage 6 whenever I'm doing too good :P

[Edit]: Just got the 1-cc!

Thanks! I'm using a supergun with a Neo Geo CD controller + framemeister to upscale to a rotated LCD monitor. Not enough room for a proper cab at the moment unfortunately.

For both the normal and advanced scores I posted I got about 10.5M just from the 1st boss and then got some good multiplier chains on Naval and Seaside. It helped me a lot to use the code to activate the chimes to indicate when you chain an enemy or drop a chain (←↑↖A). No idea why that isn't on by default!

Ah yes, I guess I should update it there too. The Neo Geo CD controller definitely isn't as precise as a good stick can be but it's a bit more convenient for me and I guess I just got used to it :) . When I first got that controller though it was indeed crap: some of the microswitches didn't register inputs very well, and one of them was barely functioning at all. So I desoldered them and then soaked them in isopropyl alcohol overnight and that seemed to make it good as new.

Also I played Batrider and Garegga shortly before this and there's enough similarities that I probably picked it up quicker then I would have had I played this one first. The main difficulty scoring-wise that sets it apart from the other two is figuring out how the multiplier system works, and how to exploit bombs and suicides to extend your chain. It's a lot more counter-intuitive compared to medalling, but enabling the chimes really helped enormously with figuring out the timing.
