Naomi 2 motherboard requiring assistance!

Post by Parris »

I have a **** Naomi 2 motherboard. It fails to present video / audio, despite powering up. Is anyone in the UK able to repair this? <Looks to see whether AndyGeezer has joined site>

If not, then I have a blue paperweight, which cost me more than a paperweight is worth :-(

Andy is on vacation or something, looks to be back the 25th according to the Shed website. Unless it is something super simple you'd probably have to send it to Ken Westerfield in the US...

bloody pricey naomi repairs due to the bga ic used, suzo can repair these and like stated ken westerfield

likely one of ic with fans on top has screwed up,the ic themselves are not cheap-i bet it would cost over £100 for a repair

I really want to explore the possibility of repairing it first, but might have to go down the replacement route if it is badly damaged. Thanks - will try AndyG first.

check the cpu/gpu fans. Sega did the thing properly, if they fail the mobo won't boot

Check continuity on the traces between the serial EEPROM chip and the FPGA chip. If those aren't working or if the EEPROM is bad the board will be dead.

Yeah all 3 fans are up and running. Channelmaniac - do you provide repairs of Naomi 2 motherboards? I am in the UK - know you are in the USA.

Not yet.

I haven't gotten my hands on one yet... Typically I buy broken boards and work on them first to gain experience before working on boards for others. Right now I have 1 NAOMI 1 fixed and another one waiting on a parts board to arrive.
