CPS3 Loading Issue

Post by butta »

So since I got my cab in working order I wanted to test out my CPS3 games.

Third Strike worked fine since it didn't have to do any loading since it was the last game played.

Loading up 2nd Impact today and it's stuck on 87%. CD seems to have stopped spinning, both timers and the background stopped moving. Every once in a while the timer and the background starts moving again, but the countdown timer stays put.

Am I screwed?

well i had thought if a cps3 loses power during loading it would kill the cart.

i guess maybe that's if there's a power surge? not just turning off the cab. im a noob. :awe:

other things to look at that will cause similar issues are your voltage levels and in particular the +5

is this true about the cps3,i seriously doubt it-arcades have power cuts all the time so capcom would have ended up with 1000 cps3 repairs in one year

good to know.

next time i wont let it sit there for a few hours while stuck loading a new game.

it's not like i'm gonna be switching games all that often anyways, it'll probably be mostly third strike in there. 2nd impact is a nice change of pace option to have though.

yea when it got stuck it was actually a burn. probably a direct copy of the original since it was included when i orginally purchased it about 4 years ago.

when i tried again i used the original and it worked.

When the CPS3 loads a game and freezes, one of three things is going on.

*Bad CD
*Bad CD Drive
*Bad memory simm

9 outa 10 times I fixed the issue by changing the simms.
