Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
Got this odd issue with Batrider on the Windy II. Not sure if anyone's experienced similar?
First thing I noticed when I bought Batrider a few months back was that there were some odd triangles across the screen...
I initially thought that it might be a voltage issue, but when I checked and found the voltage to be a little high (5.2) I lowered it to no effect.
I was obviously concerned as I had spent a small fortune, so I tested it on the U4 (with a JAMMA to MVS adapter, of course) and there was no issue. No triangles.
Tried it back in the Windy, thinking that it may have been poorly plugged in to the JAMMA harness, but no. Same issue.
I also noticed that the change region trick (hold all three buttons when powering on) doesn't work on the Windy II either?!
Tried again on the U4, trick works no issues.
Any ideas why the Windy doesn't like Batrider (or vice versa)?? The JVS to JAMMA adapter maybe??

I've not seen anything like that before, are they static?
Dip 1 set to ON?I also noticed that the change region trick (hold all three buttons when powering on) doesn't work on the Windy II either?!

I know you said triangles... But it took me way too long to realise that want bunting been reflected.... Or is it?
Can't say I've ever seen anything like that
Any other games show up oddly on the windy?
What monitor and ps are in the windy?

They are indeed static.
I ‘think’ the region thing works regardless of the dip?
In any case, whichever way the dip was when I tried it on the Windy, was the same way on the U4…

I honestly thought it was a reflection first time I saw it too!!
The geometry on the Windy is knackered and the chassis needs looking at, but everything else does display fine.
I’m not with it anymore to check, so I’m not sure what tube and PS are in it… pretty sure they’re standard though. I’ve opened up the PS to install a quiet fan, and it’s the same one as here:-

You're dead right, SW1 has to be on, for this to work, and I just double checked and it still doesn't work on the Windy with SW1 on.
Such a strange issue?!

Very strange indeed. I'm assuming your using a Konmai JAMMA I/O? Are the DIPs on the PCB in the control panel set correctly for your panel?

I have a spare JAMMA adapter somewhere. I'll try and dig it out over the weekend and send it down to you.

Interesting… it is the official Konami JAMMA I/O, but I must confess I haven’t checked the dips…
I’m not with the cab anymore to check. I’ll give that a bash

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
So I’ve checked the PCB in the CP, and indeed the dips weren’t set correctly for a 1L6B panel, however, they are now and it doesn’t appear to have made any difference.
There are two banks of dips on the Konami JVS to JAMMA board (which appears to be a go707-pwb(b)A), but a bit of Googling has got me no closer to finding out what the dips are for…
Anyone know of any instructions for it?
This is an odd one. The cab is fine with everything else, and the board is fine in anything else, just seems to be this specific combination??
Edit: Manual here https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/images/1/1 ... Manual.pdf (Thanks AO!!)
Google translate suggests that all dips should be set to off, and they are, so while I’m better informed I’m no further along…
2nd Edit: LOL at some of the direct translation! “If you handle it wrong, you will be in trouble”!!

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
I have a Windy 2 and Batrider, I’ll see if the same thing happens on mine.
Though, my monitor isn’t stock, think it’s a MS29-34 tube with a 2931 Tri-sync chassis (if that’s even a thing).

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
Sorry it took a while test, it doesn’t happen on mine going through the Konami JVS-Jamma converter.
Though my BR is RevA and obvs I mentioned about the monitor not being stock.

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
I've got a stock Windy 2, would be more than happy to help if someone wants to lend me their Batrider.
I'm thinking a day year or two of borrowing and I could have them problem diagnosed

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
So strange… tried it on a supergun now too, works perfect.
The chassis needs a service on the Windy, so I guess the triangles might be solved with that (just a complete guess?!).
Still can’t get my head around the region change thing though.

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
Those are likely junk data being output during the blanking region. I suppose the Windy II monitor isn't enforcing blanking during that. I expect nothing is defective.

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
Have you measured the 5.2 volts on the pcb directly? As in on an IC?
Try disconnecting all the controls and see what happens.

Re: Batrider doesn't like the Windy II??
I have the same problem!
And really surprised i'm not alone haha.
Have Batrider Japanese.B and it runs perfect on my Astro, but I also have a european universal cab (NSM Europlay) and
on black background i have the same red triangles like you have. Also there is a very little blue colour bleeding...
Tried voltage etc.,nothing.
Really strange.
