King of Dragons issues

Post by Yamazaki »

Hi guys

wanted to play KOD after like a year...

intro is with garbled graphics, wrong colors and textures.

after that follows a screen with vertical lines and the message "System error " and an array of numbers...

I guess it means something is faulty on the PCB and or chips and not dirty contacts (a friend suggested that first..)

will ad pictures later

I guess its the suicide battery - measure the voltage of the battery with a multimeter. If its below 3V its dead.

Ok.... need to check

Battery has been changed end of 2016.

PS: if dead is it possible to revive it somehow?

Have you tried a different A board?

If it is the suicide battery, then they can be revived now.

I could do it. I desuicided my own King of Dragons.

This said, with the amount you'll spend of shipping back and forth, you could just buy yourself an Arduino Uno and LCD shield. The wiring is extremely simple and you don't have to solder anything (well, except a new battery).

It's great to have one around if you have any battery backed CPS gear. Ultimately the coin cells will all die at some point.

That would work too. However, for the price of one you could get the programmer too (with spare change). The batteries are good for 20 years, it's not like you have to do it often.
