Batrider Working perfectly and then died, then Vectorglow saved it.

OH god. I JUST got this too.
My Batrider was working perfectly, been playing it for 20 minutes and then all of a sudden the colors got inverted and then turned into snow.
Now it wont even boot, locked on snow garbled screen. I need some thoughts here, this is the biggest blow to my collecting now. Gargh.

Sounds like a ram issue, maybe or something like a ttl, plenty of good fixers around the place should be able to hey it vback working hopefully

I don't know if it's a ram issue. If it was the start up screen would have cycled through the different chips.

Im hitting up some folks I know. Already packed it up along with a few other pcbs I have. Really can't believe this just happened. Customs hit me up with a hefty tax as well.

From memory those PCBs like a lower voltage than others.

Not necessarily, just try it lower before you send it off for anything serious.

My Bakraid wouldn't boot at all at 5v.

Ive lowered it. Still same garbage.
Funny thing is it worked at a higher one earlier. At about 5.05-5.08. The more I look at it the more Im guessing I didnt really fry it.
The board wasnt really packaged in an antistatic environment.

When say garbage I mean. It wont boot at all, just white, with some pixelated mess, no ram loading or no boot up sequence. So there's that.
Im afraid it's the custom chip or CPU at fault, but it really was working well. Could the TTLs be responsible? Did some static damage happen to it you think?

Could be the reset circuit?

What do you mean by that?

Static seems pretty unlikely since you confirmed it was working after it was unpacked. It’s hard to imagine static being stored for release some time later when the circuit is live and running, you would expect the damage would have been done and it wouldn’t have worked from the start.

Sometimes PCBs just fail as 20+ year old components break down through use over time, sometimes they last decades more.

Perhaps the voltage was a touch high (when I had Batrider I ran it at 4.8v without issue) or perhaps you’ve just been unlucky.

Also, what PSU are you using and what state is it in? Is it reliable?

That's my fear, Im using the stock Aero PSU I have. It didnt seem to cause any problem before.

Didn't you get the memo? You're not supposed to play them.

(Sorry  I feel for you. I really do)

EDIT: by the way, those stock Aero PSUs most likely aren't performing up to spec anymore. Almost all of mine had caps leaking. The voltages might be OK, but they could have crazy ripple on them. Have you the checked the game on a different setup?

Sorry I didnt reply to this.
Yeah I have. No dice.
I just sent over the boards that I have to Vectorglow so let's see how that goes.
Fingers crossed.

Update: Good News is Phil managed to fix it. It's a RAM problem like you guys said.
A Batrider still exists in this world.
