cps2 Screen does not appear

Post by kobayuz777 »

I repaired the battery but the screen is not displayed.
I hear the sound.
I also responded to buttons. You can play the game.
However, only the screen does not come out. Is there a person who understands the cause?

I was committed suicide with running out of batteries,
Since I was able to recover, I seem to be able to send program signals etc. normally.

If the screen is disturbed, we suspect contact failure of the IC chip (eg DL - 1927) etc.
However, the screen does not show up at all,
Is the video signal broken somewhere? :problem:

Have you tested a different BGSB3 PAL chip? If it malfunctions graphics roms will not receive chip select signals and thus no data will be possible to be read, which will cause blank screen.

I had a similar solid colour screen before and it turned out to be the ls245s just below the battery so it might be worth checking they're functioning as expected. Hopefully it isn't one of the customs.

thank you for the advice! :D
I exchanged the PAL of SSFXJ which is working normally.
But the results were the same. In the same way a red blank screen appears.
It may be a different cause. ;)

Is this around here? Do you measure the voltage with a tester?
Did your board fix up when you replaced this? :)

That's the two you circled there.

You'll need a logic probe or, preferably, an oscilloscope to test them properly and you'll need the data sheet to understand what the pins should be doing.

I replaced one of those and the issue went away, can't remember which one it was that needed changing though but if its faulty you should be able to tell with the probe/scope.

I see, ;)
I have a logic probe. However, since there is no data sheet, we will compare the behavior of LS 245 of normal board B and this broken board.

If you know, please let me know,
Is there any information on the data sheet somewhere?

The data sheet for a DIP 74LS245 will be fine.

Mr, leonardoliveira,

Mr. pulstar,

thank you for the advice! :P
t took time,
Recently I bought a heat gun. If I exchange 74 ls 245 for a new commercial item
I got repaired! I am deeply impressed! :P

However,
I investigated the signal at the logic probes, but I did not understand well.
(I was able to check the signals such as "high" and "low", but is it correct?
I do not understand)
I do not understand, so I have to study further. :palm:

Just piggybacking along for a ride on this thread.
I have a similar issue with a B board, except the sprite layer comes and goes if i move my hand around in this area like a magician.. I was suspecting the big chip near the battery since touching it makes the layer appear (and stay solid), but it randomly comes & goes. I should give those 245's a check up as well right?

Uhh...how many boards you got there? :awe: Nice job on the fix! :thumbupright: :)

Asure, if touching the DL-1927 corrects the problem, then it's likely cold solder joints at that chip. Try reflowing that chip first, as that may be all that's needed.

I'm not 100% sure that the 245s would be the culprit in that case. When my failed, the fault was the same as kobayuz777's - the game was running fine but there was a solid colour on the screen. Like NoAffinity says, sounds like a cold solder joint on that custom. Nothing wrong with testing the 245s as well though, but sounds like it may not be the culprit.

There are about three more junk boards.

to Mr Asure,

Perhaps it is better to upload images and videos as a defect on the screen.
If you get information from a person with similar experience,
That may be a hint of repair. :awe:
