Taito G-Net menu

Post by Mokum »

Hi everybody.
I've just got my first Taito G-Net motherboard and was eager to try Brave Blade but there's no music. At first I've thought it was receiving an insufficient voltage (4.96) but even raising it to 5.10 didn't solve the issue.
I've seen there are 4 dip switches. I've put no. 2 on "on" and accessed a menu. But I don't feel like it's the menu I'm looking for as it's not like the one on the Wiki and I can't even set the game to free play.
So, a couple questions: what's the deal with the music issue (sound fx's work fine)? How do I access the menu to set it free play and stuff?

Thanks a lot.
I've tried looking for similar threads but found none, if this is some kind of duplicate discussion just let me know ;)

From the Wiki:
The following games are hacked to work on the G-Net hardware and are thus bootlegs: [...] Brave Blade [...]

Several of the G-Net hacks don't have the music tracks. I believe that Brave Blade is one of them.

Ah cool, well that would explain it ;)
What about accessing the menu though?

Not sure. I can try a bit later tonight on my own setup and let you know if I run into the same issue :).

From what I remember the menus are different for every game and are accessed from the test button on your machine, not the dips.

The game you're playing is an amb hack, maybe ask him...?

This is the ZN-2 hardware test menu accessed by Dip 2 on the board.

This is a GNet menu accessed from the test button on your machine.

That menu is the ZN2 hardware test menu iirc.
Ah ok. I've also tried switching no. 3 on but nothing happened. I've yet to try no. 1 and 4.
