The Fix:
I got an Aero Fighters PCB in the mail yesterday. Upon firing it up i was greeted by horrible distorted sounds. Upon closer inspection today i saw that on the underside of the YM2610 Soundchip two of the legs have been touching.
After separating the two the sound plays perfectly fine now. Maybe that helps someone out there with similar sound issues.
12 V rail filter cap:
The legs of the shoei filter cap seem dangerously loose. I plan on replacing this with a Rubycon asap. Question, would the game still start if that cap had one leg broken off? Would i notice this at all as in glitches in the game?
SW3 region switch:
Mame says by flipping the SW3 dipswitch Aero Fighters turns into Sonic Wings. Probably early in design a dipswitch was supposed to go there. The revision 1 & 2 of the PCB don't have any switch there, just 4 contact points. Could i solder a switch in there? If yes, what type of switch would fit best?
