Deathsmiles low volume

Post by skydrops »

I've got a deathsmiles PCB that sounds very low compared to other cave games.
My cabinet is an Egret 3, other games sound horrible too but at least at a decent volume.
Is this PCB just faulty?

Thanks!

Tried in the test menu ?there's a volume control option in there somewhere.

That's right, in the test menu there is a sound option.
The volume is set there to 100 value, which I believe is the highest.

Interesting. Horrible like what? Crackling? Distorted? Can we hear a sample?

That's quite possible. But as the Egret 3 may have its own power amp, it can also be that such amplifier is your issue. Or maybe you have a problem with the 12V power supply. Have you tried running those witches on another cab?
My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

You've tried the volume pot on the PCB? It's the clear (or yellow) dial next to the heatsink on the left of this pic.

Meaning horrible like cheap radio speakers (the ones that come with Egret 3). Is there any direct replacement for them?

By the way, thanks to yosai for pointing out where is the volume pot. That fixed it! (never thought that was a pot) :)
