Naomi Net Dimm issues

Post by Bigbass »

Hi guys, I have the following problem during net booting with piforcetools:
- I bought and installed zero pic in dim board but unfortunately runs only a few games (those that worked even without pic), the seller assured me that the integrated works. What can it be? My dimm is of this type:

Naomi board have a multi bios eprom and dimm's firmware are 3.17

If only a few games work, it must be NAOMI BIOS related. What BIOS version are you running?

the latest multi region for naomi 2, epr-23605c_multi.ic27.
If i use naopi for net booting every games works fine (so it cant be the bios right?) but i have to change everytime the game on the usb.
it is as if there were no pic on board...Anyone use this kind of netdimm?

What if the pic just isn't sitting properly in its socket (or the wrong way around)? maybe it's worth a try to double check this.
My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

Meh, that looks correct. But it was worth a check.
Have you witnessed this netdimm to be working fine earlier or with another pic?
Can you try the pic on another netdimm?

unfortunately i have only one netdimm, probably the easiest way is to buy another pic from another seller...

I see. Well, programming a pic with a given binary file is just as easy as loading a file on a blank eprom. Expecially if the one you bought your pic from already sold several of them, it's unlikely although not impossible that the pic is faulty.
Others have suggested to check your bios. If that also didn't help, I would rather bet on the netdimm.

i can't understand, with naopi booting no problem, it runs all the naomi 1/2 games so the bios and the game flies work...

Ah! You didn't say that before!
Then you might need netdimm firmware 4.02.

i find this in the formu

3.17 for netboot
4.01 for CF
4.02 non official that takes netboot files on CF

so is it essential to upgrade?

I don't own a setup like yours so I can't be sure. I know that piforcetools should work with a 3.03 onward firmware. It is normally suggested to try it on 3.17 and only upgrade if you have issues (as there is the risk of bricking the netdimm). You are welcome to dig deeper through Google and post back your findings.
As you said that it works perfectly with Naopi, then I can't see any other reason why it shouldn't work with piforcetools as well aside from bios issues as RMRM already stressed.
Problem aside, I don't get the reason why you want to move from a perfectly working setup into unknown territory...

That error typically means that you did not configure the netdimm ip address, mask etc. correctly.
