Dodonpachi DFK- problem with rapid shot
Hi all
I have a problem with my Dodonpachi DFK 1.5 Cave PCB. Problem is, that the rapid shot "get stucked" sometimes when you tap the fire button fast. I already tried it with the second player and have the same issue. I also already pluged the PCB in my supergun and i have it also there. On the other Cave shooters i don't have such problems. If i tab the button slower it works for like 90%. Does someone have an idea what that could be?
Here you can see the problem

Weird, but you do know button 3 is autofire? Button 1 is for short bursts and laser.

Yes i know, but i'm used to the 1st button and i wanna do something while playing . It's also strange that when i use the laser i don't have any interupts.

Neat.
Have you tried factory settings, just in case? You can also check the voltage at the fire button pin with a multimeter when the button is pressed and when it is released.

My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

You mean the default settings?
I measure 3.2V when the button is not pressed and 0V when it's pressed.

Yes, if I'm not wrong DFK has an option to restore the default settings.

I tried that with the default setting, but it's still the same . Does someone has a Dodonpachi DFK to test if it has the same behaviour? As i said, the button has to be pressed really fast, otherwise it works.

May be stating the obvious here but have you tried changing the butons/switches?
Try swapping button 3 or 4 with button 1 to see if you've worn out the button 1 switches.
Also if you try to fire realy fast using only one finger (so we are sure that the switch actually opens between presses) do you get the same problem?

I think it's not the button. I also have the problem when i tested the PCB on my supergun with another joystick and buttons.

You can swap buttons 3 & 4 around just before the game starts (control select. Type A & Type B) does the issue follow?

Re: Dodonpachi DFK- problem with rapid shot
I understood that with button 3 and 4 changing. Will try that tonight.
Thanks for testing and all guys trying to help me
Yeah you really have to press it fast, otherwise it works. Problem is, i'm used to hit them like this from other games and it's hard for me not to play like that
EDIT: I did another video where i press the firebutton not so fast and everything runs as it should. At the end i press it faster and it begins to stuck again. Maybe i'm just to fast for DDP DFK

Re: Dodonpachi DFK- problem with rapid shot
Well, no computer monitors the keys constantly. On a typical embedded software you read buttons every 100ms or so. Games typically do that once per frame (20ms at 50Hz reftresh rate). First of all to ignore electrical key bouncing and second because "who in the world could or would want to tap that fast?". Danmaku shooters might have a shorter polling interval, although I wouldn't bet on it. But if you can tap the button more than 50 times per second then congratulations!!

Capcom games, for example require a button to be held two to three frames before they're acknowledged as pressed. That's how they protect the games against electrical key bouncing (aka "debounce" process)...Asayuki wrote:Well, no computer monitors the keys constantly. I suspect your technique is flawed, and you hold the button down sometimes. can see that in video 2.

Maybe, i don't know. It's just strange that i don't have any problems with all other Cave games where i use the same technique.
But did someone test this already with a DDP DFK? If he has the same problem we can close here and i have to press slower

Re: Dodonpachi DFK- problem with rapid shot
have a look yourself with the slo-mo function on those ipads ... iphones ...
I hae a dfk, but I dont need to push that fast to get a steady stream.
I think your problem is, that dfk is extra fast to deploy the laser. Dont know any other game that deploys the laser that fast an precise on a button press.

Re: Dodonpachi DFK- problem with rapid shot
I had the opportunity to test another DFK board and it seems normal that when you press the shoot button really fast it gets stucked. So my board doens't have a bug.
