MVS stuff: Both are conversions..

The TMNT is a real oddity. Some of the customs could be recycled from a lesser-valued game, but even then, the parts would still have been costly. Seeing as Moo Mesa and Sunset Riders were bootlegged as well, with simulated customs, there would have not been a real need to mass-produce stuff like that. I guess its value as-is to be around €50 or so?

Yes, but i would call these borderline bootlegs.

The TMNT could be a Korean licensee version with all the GoldStar and Korean marked chips.

I thought that too, but then i noticed the YM2151 is missing the date/batch code, something which could have given away the bootleggers' identity back in the days.. ;)

Hi there,

I have question for you guys : I have recently acquired a Blazing Star on Neo Geo AES sold as an original, and I want confirmation that it is really one.

I have had a long discussion with the seller for the origin of the game, & tutti quanti and he looks trustworthy. I examined his pics before buying, reexamined the game on all sides when received it, compared it with my own conversion of the game. I am pretty sure that it is an original one. But because I am not very old in the AES world, I need ultimate confirmation by pros or experimented members about Neo Geo AES, particularly concerning the PCBs (I have opened it to make pics of them). I want to be in peace with my consciousness :)
Here are some pics of the PCBs I made (sorry if the quality is bad, my device is not a perfect one) :

thanks a lot in advance for the help you can provide :)

Edit : Thanks to have moved the topic :) I didn't know where to post it.

Looks original. You can compare it to the photos of the boards here:

Thanks for your answer :)

But I precise that it is an AES version, not an MVS ;) or I did not understand the pics in the link you gave.

Ahh, sorry I never read your post properly and assumed it was MVS :palm:

Your boards looks original to me nonetheless. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm for certain though :)

I'm a bit concerned with the eeproms in B1, C1, D1, E1. Had this board had repairs done or is it a conversion.

What's it supposed to be? You've got a qfp reflow and a badly replaced amp that I can see.

It's a great game though... Have the seller explain or provide you with better pics?

It's Korean, which means it probably didn't have eprom labels to begin with. The build quality on them is lower, 170 euros is strong even for a Japanese made one, I'd pass.

Thanks. I already passed.
I thought it was Korean but after request the seller told me it is a japanese board.
Eproms shouldn't be there to begin with as all the other boards I've seen pictures of use mask roms.
The fishy odor gets bigger and bigger the longer I looked at it.
