EXAMU EX-Board kick harness pinout

Post by eathis »

Hi everybody,

I am searching for the exact pinout of the EXAMU EX-Board kick harness.
If someone got it it will be very helpfull.

The connector for the kick harness on the mobo is a male 6 pins molex 5046, so it's different from the classical CPS1 or CPS2 connectors.
The kick harness is usefull when the mobo is used JAMMA mod.
The EX-Board can also be used in JVS but I prefer to use the JAMMA on my New Astro City.

This kick harness is used to have the button 5 on Arcana Heart 2, Suggoi Arcana Heart 2 and Arxana Heart 3.

I wish somebody can help me, I keep searching on the web but I don't found it.

Thanks guys^^

Here's a copy of the manual page for the kick connector. I haven't translated it though. Only the cable colors (which of course aren't too helpful unless you have a cable  )
1P:
黄 yellow - button5
緑 green - button 6
黒 black - GND
2P:
黄 yellow - button 5
青 azure - button 6
黒 black - GND

Sure without the cable it's hard to see which color is for which pin but this is a first step, thanks a lot Stompp ;)
If somebody got the official EXAMU EX-Board kick harness and can check which cable is for which pin it will be awesome.

The official layout for Arcana Heart 3 is:
A, B, C
D, nothing, E

So I wonder if the "E button" is the button 5 or the button 6 ?
and did the "D button" is directly from the Jamma or from the kick harness?

If somebody got more informations don't hesitate to post here please, thanks.

From what I can make from the AH2 manual E is button 5. D is on the JAMMA.

Uploaded the ex-BOARD manual on my site (since it was too large for the wiki) and linked it from the wiki page: http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/EX-BOARD. I'll add the AH2 manual later :)

The pinout for the eX-BOARD is:
Pin 1: GND
Pin 2: Player 1 - E
Pin 3: Player 1 - D
Pin 4: GND
Pin 5: Player 1 - E
Pin 6: Player 1 - D

I've checked this with my own kick harness and this is the way I connect the harness to my New Astro (I use the layout from the games manuals of both Arcana Heart 2 and Daemon Bride). I'm not sure if button 4 is over the JAMMA connector, but it works for me (I use D for button 4 and E for Button 5).

Thanks a lot for your answers guys :D
It will be really helpful.

Thanks for the scans of the manuals Stompp it's always interesting to have it, specially with uncommun system like the EX-board.
That's complicated to found informations about this system.

Thanks a lot for the complete pinout cthulhu, it resolve the mistrery of the button 6 which is finally the D button^^
For pins 5 and 6 you wrote "player 1", you mean player 2 ?

I'll try to do a kick harness using this pinout and post the result here.

I love this system and it's a shame that there is only 4 games.
Daemon Bride is really an awesome!!!!
I wish someday somebody will relaese the arcade prototype of "Ancient Monster Cline", this games looks really great.
The arcade prototype looks much better than the PC version.
I know there was a location test of the game before it was cancel. Some videos are running on Youtube:

Thanks again guys.

Great info here :) I do like the ex-BOARD as well and yes, it's sad there wasn't more games released :(

Curious that the D button is on the kick since the the JAMMA edge clearly has four buttons :eh: Anyways, I'll update the wiki and upload the manual for Arcana Heart 2. Sadly my Demon Bride kit has found its way to a new home and I never scanned the manual. I'll contact the buyer and see if he can do it. Unless someone else already got a scan.

EDIT: Oh, and Ancient Monster Cline does look :awe:

Okay, just checked the kick harness more closely.

The pinout for the eX-BOARD is:
Pin 1: GND
Pin 2: Player 1 - 6
Pin 3: Player 1 - 5
Pin 4: GND
Pin 5: Player 2 - 6
Pin 6: Player 2 - 5

Daemon Bride doesn't need the harness because it's a 4 button game. Connecting the harness will duplicate button 4 on button 5...so button 4 and 5 will both give you the dash move.
Arcana Heart 2 needs the kick harness because it's a 5 button game. Connecting the harness will give you the homing move on both button 4 and 5 and the arcana attack (or what it's called) on button 6. The harness will duplicate button 4 on button 5.
I think the reason why button 5 has the same function as button 4 might be for cabinets that don't have button 4 wired through the JAMMA connector or control panels that only have buttons 1-3 wired through the JAMMA connector and buttons 4-6 wired through the auxilliary harness.
