Lindbergh problem : Error 6 IO Device Not Found
Well, my beloved yellow Lindbergh has decided to have a failure with no particular reason!
Here's the error message I got during each boot :
I've searched on the forum, and I founded a similar failure on this topic "Lindbergh problem", although the error message is not the same, but somehow its related to the pci JVS baseboard card.
During each boot, when I got the error message "Error 6 IO Device Not Found", the LED on the JVS pci card stays orange ->
I presume it has to turn green?
So, I've done what's described on the other topic because it really makes sense, which was :
1) Remove both batterys from the Motherboard and from the baseboard.
2) Change jumper switch near to the battery from 1-2 to 2-3 to do a cmos reset.
3) boot lindbergh until you got a cmos error, defaults loaded.
4) Shut down lindbergh and put back batterys.
5) Boot lindbergh again until you got a cmos error, defaults loaded.
6) Power off lindbergh and put back jumper to 1-2.
7) Now reboot and watch the internal led on the baseboard, if the led is always orange, try to change the Baseboard, to another PCI slot on the lindbergh, for example, you can exchange audio card and Baseboard card position.
Note that in addition to put back batteries removed on step 1, I've 2 used brand new CR2032 on step 4, because they probably never been change so far.
...but all these actions didn't solved the problem, still got the same error message during the boot
So I probably have to conclude that my PCI JVS baseboard card is dead?
Is it possible that this card has a kind of suicide battery? Because in addition of the removable CR2032 one, there's is an other one fixed on the board, see ->
That would makes sense. What if that one dies?
Thanks for your help on this, I'm not familiar at all with such 'modern' stuff like this

Re: Lindbergh problem : Error 6 IO Device Not Found
Biggest problem is where the pci baseboard lives, on the factory it is bottom pci slot and the dust and associated crap will just sit there - slowly corroding the pcb.
Check the flash rom and see if there is signs of corrosion, sometimes reflowing this will fix it - but its not reliable.
Used to be the case of just buying a ¥10,000jpy Lindbergh from Japan for the spares, but now they are thin on the ground, here sega dont repair them and only have refurbished units and i think the price is around £395.

Re: Lindbergh problem : Error 6 IO Device Not Found
Thanks for this fast reply Andy.
Well, it's true when I pull off that PCI card, there was a lot of dust, but after using air bomb spray on it, it now visually looks nice, although 'visually' doesn't mean a lot when speaking about electronic stuff.
Dawn, the price of that part!
Any idea bout the purpose of the second 'non removable' battery by the way?

That's a capacitor and not a battery

Well, I do not have the card in front of me, but according this picture, it really looks like a battery to me, no? ->purplec wrote:That's a capacitor and not a battery
But I admit it would be strange to have two batteries on the same card...

Nope that's definitely a capacitor.

Re: Lindbergh problem : Error 6 IO Device Not Found
Ok, now regarding the CR2032 battery located on the baseboard, what is its purpose exactly? Keeping calibration settings for example?
Because I should get soon an other working baseboard, and I would like to replace the CR2032 with a brand new one, before installing it into my Lindbergh.
No risk If I'm doing this?
