Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error
Hey there.
Last month, I helped a friend to buy for a my local arcade a Tekken Tag 2 Tournament Unlimited unit.
Game is rev. G10
Game was used on site for approx. one month without problems so far.
Last Friday, the owner called me and told me that the game crashed in middle of the staff roll.
The game now refuse to boot and come with an ERROR 02 : ACCOUNT ERROR.
I should add that 2 other errors are reported : NETWORK ERROR and 2x CARD R/W NOT PLUGGED but this is normal since we obviously can't connect to ALL.NET from Europe and thus we don't have any use for card readers. With these 2 errors we were able to boot the game without problem before the ERROR 02.
The owner told me that the USB green dongle was boiling hot when he unplugged the board after the first crash.
The service menu is also still accessible. There is something like a "FORMAT FLASH" option, which I guess is related to the account (is the account info stored on the green dongle/flash drive ?) but we didn't try it since this sounds pretty definitive.
We have a copy of the manual and we're trying to find someone who can read japanese ATM.
I didn't had time yet to check the board myself but this description the owner gave me is pretty complete so I'm giving it to you guys.
Any help appreciated. Thanks !

Well, since this looks pretty bad, what was that about the "expensive paperweight" ?

PlayStation3 hardware has a feature where it uploads crash dumps to a SONY server.
Probably the game want to connect to the Internet to upload that report...

I doubt it's simply that, because the board do pass the PS3 XMB screen and boot up the Namco program.leonardoliveira wrote:PlayStation3 hardware has a feature where it uploads crash dumps to a SONY server.

Sadly, I guess it's more like some trigger must have activated because the game was offline for too long, and does not allow the game to boot anymore.
I'm actually trying to find some way to "repair" it but information is scarce.

You should ask fujita or other arcade shops online, maybe they can help you solve that problem.

I'll try to have the seller take back the board first, but yeah, I'm planning on contacting them later.

Re: Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error
I operate TTT2 machines. at first I thought you bought adn play at house because it can play it offline but unfortulnaltely no.
each TTT2 machine has to register and connect to Namco server. Namco always watching us, every credit played, you have to pay Namco too.
if you have not heard about Banapassport you should find some information by now.
I wonder why the guy who sell you didn't tell you about this?
you have to buy "NBline point" from Namco and you will fill up the point to your machine (actually to Namco server). every time you play, it will deduct 5 points.
a card has 10000 point and it cost around 133.33 dollar. a match will deduct 5 point, so you can play 2000 matchs. so each match will cost you around 0.067 US.dollar
it also say in the user agreement that if your machine does not connect to the server for a month. "it will shut down and cannot boot up" all you can see is this "Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error"
The machine is fine ti does not broke, you just have to register your machine to namco and pay them 0.067 us dollar every time you play it at your home. how about that....
Kaching!

Re: Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error
This is the future model sadly.
Its working really well for maximum tune 4 as namco keep ownership of the machine, if any part goes bad they exchange it - so they kill 3rd party companies.
Mario kart 3 etc will be online and yes maximum tune 4 has a USB camera in the control panel (secretly hidden).
Welcome to the future

I guess some clever dick needs to code some software to impersonate the Namco server

Re: Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error
well.. go back to 5 years ago when Tekken 5 and 6 has cards to keep player records
the operator can make profit from selling cards
a card can be used 500 times and when it's used up the player has to buy a new card to continue using his account one card for one character
so in conclusion a player usually has 4-5 cards because they play many characters and the they must buy a new one after 500 matches
now the player just buy only one card and it can keeps records of every characters with unlimited time used. no need for a new card unless they lost it.
the user pay less. but now it's the operator that has to pay 0.067$ per match no matter that the player use the card or not.
I know keeping server on has maintainance cost but charging even if the player didn't use the card?
note that we pay for the machine not leasing it too.

I guess it's their way of remembering you that you never bought the game, you only have a licence to use it.

That bothers me a little, what if Namco decides to scrap the servers for TTT2:U? Then we are SOL. That's not cheap hardware

Re: Namco System 369 Error 02 : Account Error
The other thing I don't like is, Namco's console version is superior to the arcade version, meaning why not update the arcade version with the new characters so it will be equal. If they aren't going to do it, they might as well make the game offline then.
