Mustache Boy PCB sound issues

Post by soupbones »

This one is confusing me - I recently acquired a Mustache Boy PCB and everything is working fine except the sound. The sound works fine on my brother's Astro cabinet, but on mine it's barely audible.

We both have identical cabinets, except with different PSUs (mine is a new one from RS) - all of my other PCBs sound perfectly fine on my cab, with the exception of this one.

Any ideas what I should be looking for? :problem:

Hmmmm - but wouldn't that effect ALL of my boards if the -5v was defective?

Boards using -5v is pretty uncommon, so probably not.

Ah - didn't realize that. I just looked at the pcb manual http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-vi ... %20DIP.pdf and it mentions the -5v must be connected. So i guess my -5v connection isn't working on my cab (or not hooked up at all)...

Thanks guys!

Entirely possible that your brother's psu has -5v, while your newer replacement doesn't. You can always buy a negatron adapter to solve the problem if it bothers you, FrancoB could probably hook you up;

You're awesome man - thank you. Yeah, I believe you're right - just took a look at the PSU specs for my unit, and it's doesn't show a -5v port anywhere. :(

I'll hit Franco up for one - the game seems like it's worth it :)
