Seems inevitable this technology will end up being used for move strips and header arts, though I'm guessing it'll take another 5 years.
looks like it could plausibly be thin enough to fit in standard art holders above control panels
draw latency is irrelevant in this application
preserves image when switched off
Anyway posting this so I can bump it in 5 years saying it'll be 5 more years
e-ink for move strips and header arts.

But how would that be done when connecting to computer hardware?
https://www.eink.com/product/epaper
That application is most likely to be used, but how would users easily update such art whenever they want?

I envision a basic microcontroller like an Arduino or ESP, coupled with an SD card with the artwork on, then a simple toggle switch to cycle through the artwork.
The e-paper itself would be the most expensive part.

Sounds great, esp if it was coupled with a MisterCade or something similar to tell it what to show.
Don't see why there couldn't be a OLED/LCD variant right now if the screens were sized appropriately.

Would be fantastic actually to have that.
You might get along with many small eInk screens placed together. Though it will still be a very expensive movestrip

Sure if something custom sized ... But suspect main problem will be having an eink paper/screen size that fits what you'd want if looking to retrofit. Tbh it could also be an in game menu on today's games...
