Operation Killmeister

Post by ChrisBEANS »

Very little detail so far. Coming “Spring 2023”.

Appears it’ll be a beat em up (just going by the fact that characters appear to have melee weapons I guess??), but very little info to go on.

Decent art style, reminiscent of the Kraut Buster intro from NG Dev

Looks cool, but bit pointless putting out a mock up without any game play.

Agreed… sadly, it’s probably a bit of a red flag that we’re getting a barely conceptual ‘teaser’ trailer now when it was originally slated for Q4 2022.

Meh, who knows, need much more before we can start drawing conclusions I guess…

I’ll be honest… the more I see, the less enthusiasm I have…

I want to like it though, fingers crossed the gameplay is great?!

Wow that is some bad art, reminds me of Amiga era bedroom coder type games that were all idea/zero artistic ability :-o

Thats a bit harsh maybe, it looks like a fine homebrew effort. Its just that we have been spoiled with homebrew that looks like AAA i think. The only thing that makes me suspicious is the mentioned lack of actual gameplay

AES packaging design teasing before we've even seen gameplay footage?

...

this starting to remind anyone a little bit of Paprium?

In the official NeoGeo developers guide from the 90's for new game concepts, it asks the developer to first show a proof of concept for gameplay illustrated on paper along with any work in progress character animations and backgrounds.

That's good advice.

Attractmode looks kinda meh and I think its rather strange to show a attract mode and a homecart, but no gameplay or any other infos besides that. Main concern is showing off a homecart on Instagram. Pass.

A launch party soon to follow with cans of Operation Killmeister branded drinks but still no gameplay :D

If the attract mode is anything to go by, the designer's idea of animation is moving flat images around the screen, flashes and some sprite scaling. No actual animation. There is also a severe lack of understanding of drawing human anatomy. And I don't mean the 'good' kind of not understanding human anatomy that you see regularly in Capcom games.
