Why no new IP's? Surely they must have sold enough SODJ to make it worth it? Starting to feel like the Playstation 5 already. :eh:

Lucky Zak gave me some extra box protectors I guess.

Probably too expensive, the ports are way cheaper than develop new content. I'd be surprised if that would be viable. Plus i'm assuming all talent has left the building after 10 or so years. Unless by new ip you mean some cameltoe visual novels, that should be doable.

From CAVE themselves? You’re talking a couple of million dollars in development costs for a market that wasn’t profitable for them pre-Covid. They’ll be happy cashing the licensing cheques for now.

That makes sense. Should have thought before posting that silly comment I guess.

Not a silly comment at all. I dare say the plan was to license a few titles and see how they performed before getting onboard with development. SDOJ seems to have done well, all things considered, but it's now become a huge ask because of Covid, and the general financial shape of the company:

Nice, but this article bets the survival of the company on the sole performance of their next Tōhō project. Revenues from DDP SDOJ EXA Label and Akai Katana EXA Label sales are to be taken into account as well. Of course, the number of arcade cartridges sold are not comparable to Steam sales, but the revenue per unit is much higher and it quickly adds up!
And I'm pretty sure that Cave licences their IPs to various other partners as well for various events and goodies...

Can you confirm that no new motherboard update will be required for AK (if currently using a MOBO which can handle SDOJ exA)?

Looking forward to buying this as well! :)

Correct, no system update required. Only a blood contract for the katana is needed.

I feel like cave have reach that point in a company's lifespan where they can exist on past glory. We will probably see rereleases of all the modern cave titles from mushi onwards and possibly m2 for the stuff before

I don't know AK that well - what's the fourth mode in that first screenshot, with the different font to the rest? (I know top is OG, 2nd is Exa, 3rd is Shin which was the 360 version remix IIRC?)
