Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out for an update. I had a go with some other 3 & 4 player games, and was able to control them nicely 8-)

How many input devices can a JVS-pac simulate?

If i understood well, the device simulate the keyboard with standard MAME configuration. I think the MAME std config it's for 2 player only.

That's how JVS-pac worked for me many years ago, and that's how the JPAC used to work, but the modern JPAC firmware can now simulate two usb joypads instead. This allows 2-players to be configured on Mister, as most cores require one device per player.

So I'm wondering if JVS-pac does something similar now.

I was able to control 3p FF Anniversary with one keyboard but from what I've read this isn't the norm for most cores.

Yep, I believe it's 2player, which can be extended to 4players if you chain two together or connect it to a Capcom I/O

There's not really much to make. You can put it in a nice little case. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The mister has an HDMI output. You just need the RAM expansion and an OTG USB hub.

I'm not sure tbh.

The three buttons mean you don't need a keyboard plugged in to get to menu or reboot. You get an extra SD card slot, separate audio-out and it includes a fan, but I've not yet encountered a problem running the DE10 Nano fanless.

You can buy the above to get started and add crap later if you feel the need.

I think the start up guides, and shop notes for what you need, for MiSTer are pretty much comically inept.

I got one for the geek out thrills too, I sort of assumed the poor documentation around what hardware to buy would lead to all sorts of fun before I got round to actually not playing any games on it. But in truth, once you've solved the riddle of what to buy the whole things is practically plug and play by the standards you'd expect.

All you actually need to have is the DE-Nano. There are however several products with DE-Nano in the title. This is the one you want: DE10-NANO CYCLONE V SE SOC KIT. When I got mine, the best price was at Digi-Key. If you have a step down (it only comes with a US power supply) then you already have everything you need besides a controller, but many controllers work so you probably have that too.

However, to play bigger games like NeoGeo you'll want to get the extra ram, and realistically you'll want more USB sockets. You can get the nice little MiSTer USB hub that sits on the DE-10, but any powered USB hub will do.

The DE10 comes with a smallish SD card (8Gb?), you'll proably want to get a bigger card for storing ROMs or you will run out of space if you are into getting complete collections of all the Romz.

The I/O boards are not required, the basic DE-10 does HDMI. If you want different audio outs, our VGA out then you'll want an I/O board but they're not necessary.

The actual set up is pretty straight forward, configuring the controllers has been the only headache for me, and that's just cause it's tedious. Really like my MiSTer.

Now that's talking my language.

Wonder if the JAMMA harness will power the thing (good) or if it'll need a PSU too (bad).

Oh, that looks great. I've wanted to dip my toe into the MiSTer pool for a while now and this looks to be a great time to pick one up. Not that I've managed to play a game of anything at all in the last eight months :problem:

I look forward to the 3D print models being released to have a play with. I can feel a kustom konsole kase koming :awe:

Cheers man. I saw that [in a thread] over at mistafpga.org

There is a 'Case B' option now that has a square back and the SCART out relocated which is better. Its given some room in the case to mount a SSD too.

45hr print and ~500g filament :wtf:
