Just made a donation. Straightforward enough even if you can't read Japanese.

Does anybody know if the Japanese government is able to support arcades/leisure sector during the current Covid-19 situation?
In the UK I believe measures have been proposed such as changes to businesses rates payable for the year.

Hats off to GSK, that's a great idea. Hopefully people can support their local arcades through this (if they're lucky enough to have one).

Mikado generates over a million dollars in sales annually. If they can't keep afloat during this time they have a busted business model.

EDIT: wow, 200k in donations. I hope those mom and pop arcades are getting help as well (I bet they aren't).

Indeed. No idea what the government support is like in Japan but this is going to finish many arcades off regardless. You'd hope regular patrons would be willing to help out if asked but not all businesses are social media savvy, nor would they all ask for handouts in the first place.

I really hope Mikado Game Center can stay open--I visited the Ikebukuro location when on a trip last autumn, and we ended up visiting daily for a few days because it was such a great experience. My area is pretty shut down as well, so as soon as I can help, I'd like to. Stay healthy, everyone.

Here's another. Half way there already. Would be nice to see them support small arcades without the same following and publicity somehow.

They're raising 2mil JPY for Virtua Youtuber development.

本来であれば自己資金でお店を維持し、事業を進めるのが当たり前の話なのですが、残念ながら弊社のような中小企業の資金力では、もはや耐え忍ぶこともままならない状態です。

hello, I allow myself to contact you so that your forum can help a friend and his association Coin Op Legacy.
With the unprecedented health crisis, the association can no longer pay for its local warehouse, a pot has been created.
Everyone is free to put what they want, to buy the book on the history of the Arcades on the site.
I give you the links of the association as well as of the pot.
If we could save all this heritage in France, acquired over many years of research and restoration work. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
sorry for my bad English

Over the past 6 years, Coin Op Legacy has been a driving force of the Arcade preservation scene, by restoring vintage machines from the 70 s to the 90 s and organizing multiple
public events. Based in France, our club maintains more than 200 cabinets, most of which are in full working condition and ready to play! Indeed, our goal is to share the joy of Arcade
gaming beyond lucky collectors. However, the current crisis has affected us just like many Arcade locations worldwide unless we find new funding, we will be forced to close and sell our collection.

Our crowdfunding campaign on KissKissBankBank aims to provide us with the funds to safeguard this priceless gaming legacy and relocate to Paris.
www.kisskissbankbank.com/fr/projects/coin-op-revival

To thank our backers, we have also planned some fantastic rewards:
- a 200 page compendium of our most beloved arcade machines published in both French and English by Omake Books "Coin Op Legacy Electronic Dreams"
- free access to our Arcade history videos in collaboration with Alex Pilot Gamekult (First season here www.youtube.com/channel/UCNPAkdyPl2ujL4_kJFBwSjw )
- exclusive access to a brand new Collector's Quest by Florent Gorges (third season here www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N4ff5OM7pU&lis ... kCBwoWt00K )

If you care about Arcades and our gaming legacy, or even just for old times' sake, then help us!
