Any PCB shops left in Japan?

Post by hedorah »

Hey Guys,

Been out of the scene for a few years, but figured a Japan visit next week might rekindle my activity. Was doing some searches for PCB shops in Tokyo and it seems like Mak is the only game in town? Gfront and Try seem to be gone? Is there anyone else around? Also Mak's prices suck or I need to wake up the realization of PCB prices in 2019. Either way any other suggestions for shops to visit?

MAK still exists I believe. At least their website does and they have an address listed on google maps

I just recently purchased a pcb from Tops too

https://www.tops-game.jp/

Not sure if they have a physical location though

Nope, Tops doesn't have a physical shop, mailorder only.

You could check out KVC lab. As far as I understand they do have a shop in Tokyo too.

Great, thanks everyone.

Will check out Beep and try to find KVC Lab if I can.

I have always wanted to visit Game Kanaya, but no Osaka on this trip sadly, so maybe next time.

Beep has some really high-level prices though..

MAK is cool - the clerks are also very nice!

G-Front is like already mentioned online sales only. I was there last April and stood before their door - no one opened it....

japan shops prices are 50-100% more than in Europe, except CAVE pcbs.

It's cheaper to just take it all to the japanese post office and send it to yourself, than the effort to buy suitcases and haul it through the airports.

eh, no its not. You buy a 4kY suitcase at Don Quiote and most airlines have a 1 bag flying in 2 bags flying out policy. Why would you pay extra for shipping/customs and everything else?

I have done exactly this twice, but prefer to use Bic Camera cause it's less chaotic compared to "Donki".
Usually not a lot of arcade games though, since prices aren't much better than online in EU.
