Games to play with your spouse?

Post by aerobert »

So I have recently taken my arcade hobby to the next level. I.e. it's full in that part of the house where I can keep them lol. I want to get my better half a bit more interested in arcade games. I have a couple of pinball machines but she was never very into them. I want to ask you what games would be nice to play together? I have several two player cabinets for both vertical and horizontal games.

Tetris is a classic and we have started playing the Atari version together, but what other two-player games would you recommend? Competitive is always fun. I think we can rule out shmups and platformers for the most part but I would still like to hear your thoughts.

Puzzle games work well. Puzzle Bobble, Puzzle Fighter, etc. But there's loads more on MAME.

I'm gonna jamma sausage into your heart.

Hmm, I will try Puzzle Bobble on the MVS. Haven't played those games in 15 years or so.

Beat em ups are always really cool with your significant other. Im not even trying to make a joke here.
Golden Axe, Final Fight, that sort of thing. Especially Golden Axe to start with.

Me and my wife like playing Track & Field. We end up in stitches laughing at the faces each other pulls while mashing away at the buttons :D :hinthint: :whoa:

I'm a huge Hyper sports fan, but don't have that cab. I mostly have candys.

I'm not a fan of beat 'em ups anymore. I used to be, but I'll try with Turtles 1 and see what she thinks. Or perhaps Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, I recently picked up a cheap boot of that.

Hmm, I just remembered I have Bubble Bobble laying around. Maybe I'll give that a try if it's playable on a 8 way stick.

My wife loves Tetris and any of the Puzzle Bobble games, but I remember she was enjoying Pacman and Space-Invaders for at least a while. Maybe Bombjack is worth a try...

Ok, will have to pick up Puzzle Bobble.

First one seem to both look and sound nicer than PB2.

They're also cheaper than a sandwich in Stockholm.

Usually cute themed games like puzzles, shooting or even fighting games works great.

Other genre that are sometimes forgotten is gun games and rail shooters.

My wife likes stuff like Money Puzzle Enchanger, Puzzle Bobble etc, like said above. Two player Bubble Symphony is a winner in our house as well.
