Choosing between KoF98 on MVS or KoF98UM on PGM2

Post by TorSKY »

Hi everybody !

I just got a KoF98UM on PGM2, and already own a KoF98 on MVS, I sometime run it in my game center, and I'd like to know if KoF98UM is good enough to replace the MVS version.

I'm more into SF2X than KoF, so I prefer asking before creating a panic among KoF purists ! Should I sell my MVS version or keep both ?

Thanks for your advices !

Keep both. 98UM is a fun game, but some people will never accept anything else but the MVS original.

Are there a lot of differences in terms of timings, hit boxes ?

Some old characters have new skills, the new characters are really strong, and the ability to pick and mix aspects of Extra and Advanced playstyles with Ultimate makes it an entirely different game, so concentrating on small nuances isn't really the point, in my opinion.

...keep both.

But in terms of customers, or only having room for one, you can't go wrong with original.

Only really niche competitive types will prefer um imho. There's probably more general neo / original fans, than super keen 98um players.

Plus mvs - if you've a multi slot and have some other neo options in there; it's still hard to argue having have a better use of space...
