It is nice for Exa Arcadia to really get back on their feet for the last few sets of location tests to prepare for launch in Japan first before worldwide release. That news totally came out of the blue from my twitter feed, and we all wish them great success despite the obstacles set by existing giant competitors.

I do wish that Exa Arcadia could increase their presence by simply showcasing upcoming games on international territories more frequently, and that would be enough without giving much away prior to launch.

I also have had a talk with several users, some are indie operators form another discord server, but the main barriers for international distribution is the demand for dedicated cabinets. All Exa Arcadia has to do is make a dedicated kit hybrid like Neo Geo has done for its multi-game cabinet when they were around in the USA and beyond.

I’m guessing it’s the same as CRT cabs, when they’re old they’re close to worthless to operators

That’s silly cheap though

Does anybody ever see a video showing a exa game running on a CRT?

I have some general questions;

1. What is the expected retail price of the motherboard + game
2. Can a game be swapped between different motherboards?

Thanks

At least the good news for those who don't want to see the same play-tested game (Aka & Blue Type R) over again, Exa Arcadia has officially confirmed 4 player test at Mikado. Personally, I do enjoy more tests on diverse games rather than sticking to one game for an extended period of time. I am sure the rest of the games will follow too. Remember that Exa Arcadia has a good lineup of shooting, fighting, and some party games along with others.

Edit 1:
The Exa Arcadia tweets are the only source of notable activity / guerrilla marketing because they are a small start-up company and they are absolutely tight-lipped on the games, hardware, prices, and services until they are absolutely ready for sure.

Also for small news about video game console tariffs from China to USA, they have been delayed until December 15th.
https://www.cnet.com/news/us-government ... -consoles/

Of course, that might somewhat on Exa Arcadia's bottom line when having to export the units to the US shores.

Anyways, feel free to continue a positive and informative discussion.

credibility going down the drain.

Shou has stated MrJBRPG has nothing to do with Exa Arcadia. Any of your posts that were deleted were for trolling.

Check his posting history, this is a promotion account.

When confronted (my so called trolling) he started posting random stuff in addition, but always making sure to mention exa even in these postings.

I asked Shou about it directly (CRT version) since I only own CRT cabs, and he said its pretty much the bottom priority and required the purchase of extra hardware. I would imagine that it's nothing they're proud of, and should only be used as a very last resort. I'm just going to forget it was ever mentioned...

That's disappointing.

I guess I'm going to miss this generation of Arcade games (unless this additional hardware is available to buy and setup easily).

I assume Shou was talking 15KHz? I’d rather hook it up to the TV. Easy enough.

Finally, hardware for Exa Arcadia is being discussed more.

Yep.. As we remember back in the thread, the big priority of supported inputs to outputs are very likely HDMI and VGA as they are more modern than CGA (15Khz). I had to look up the 31khz to 15khz converters, known as down-graders. The irony of converters that you expect that it's easy and affordable to go from input A to output B, but upgraders tend to be more affordable than down-graders due to the latter being more niche and older hardware being phased out by more convenient solutions.

Unless you prefer waiting for a proprietary solution from Exa Arcadia, perhaps the next best thing is a DIY VGA to CGA gadget:

I do not know much, but that came off from quick research.

That is what the HDMI and VGA are used for. Only Shou knows best on the hardware. We will have to wait until then.

Keep the positive vibes going as the thread deserves to be.

Why bother? There are plenty of CRT cabs that support 31k.

Indeed. It's a tiny fraction of the market to invest in developing a bespoke solution for I'm afraid.
