Re: exA-Arcadia
So any hints on the Classified game? from a company that has several well known titles according to ArcadeHeros.
Is it Jitsu Quad then or..?
I intend to grab a system soon. P47Aces MkII is top of my list at the moment, widescreen and rescaled assets are nicely done.
Hopefully they will do a Cosmic Digger/Motherboard combo as per or Kira Kira, where you essentially get a game included for 'free' to get you started.

Re: exA-Arcadia
Jitsu Squad was let slip on their Kickstarter and now has a page on the Exa site. I recall Shou meeting with WayForward so if anything came of that then it's probably River City Girls. That screenshot certainly could be.

Was SDOJ successful enough to bring us more CAVE releases?

I'm not sure what the 3 question marks are for but all the info you're probably asking for is in the link you yourself pasted. Also it's 3 years old.Halloween Jack wrote: ↑July 16th, 2021, 7:33 pm Type S???

Nothing more than fat thumbs. I agree, all of the answers are probably in there somewhere, hence posting the article. I've no idea as to the development timelines for new shmups, but three years would feel about right.

Re: exA-Arcadia
In that interview, they say that they would like their next game to be an action game and that a follow-up to Aka & Blue might come after that. As they say, the development of Aka & Blue Type S was put on hold after the success of the Aka to Blue Type-R release, so they chose to focus on improving that version of the game. They say the Type S stands for "Type Second". My guess is that this was to be an improved version of the game that would be released on Steam. They might have changed their mind on keeping improved versions of Aka to Blue restricted to arcades only. I can be totally wrong of course.arcnl wrote: ↑July 16th, 2021, 8:00 pmI'm not sure what the 3 question marks are for but all the info you're probably asking for is in the link you yourself pasted. Re: exA-Arcadia
Tanoshimasu have said they hate Steam.
I really hope A&B was successful enough for them to develop another arcade game. I'd be very happy for them to take the easy option and release a sequel using the same engine, but like you say, they seemed keen to do something different.

Re: exA-Arcadia
Oh yeah, I remember they said the problem is that it's not profitable because of the players buying the game, finishing it in a few days and asking for a refund. Maybe Type S was something for other platforms like PS4 and Xbox, or even Android...
This is also a possibility. Maybe they'll even release Type-S on exA...

Re: exA-Arcadia
Type-S was a proof of concept on Switch before the development of Type-R. This POC showed it wasn’t possible to accurately port the game to Switch and the idea was abandoned.
Type-R is an exclusive and will never be ported.
Their next game project was already planned out. We are in the midst of a pandemic where arcades and other service industries have greatly suffered. Look at Sega and namco selling their locations and Taito losing triple digit millions over the last year. To expect any company to invest into doing an arcade project is unrealistic except that we keep plugging away. This is an extinction level event in history and a survival of the fittest.
In 2022, who will remain? exA-Arcadia will be here with arcades.

Re: exA-Arcadia
I'm questioning their porting skills if they can't manage to run a2b accurately on switchHiroyuki Kimura : Actually Type-R came first before Type-S, that’s why S stands for second.

Covid is literally the worst thing imaginable for an already struggling arcade industry. It's really sad to see.

Re: exA-Arcadia
As arcade manufacturers go, beside exA-Arcadia, Raw Thrills will still be alive and kicking. I predict that Sega Amusements International will also be successful.
Keeping fingers crossed for the others...
