I'm a big hater of mixed resolutions so I hope if they do it on this system they only do it on games where they have high resolution assets for which is like Deathsmiles onward. They aren't going to redraw complete graphics assets or at least I think they never have done it ever.

The hardware has requirements to support 480 and 720. I don't know if there is an easy way to make a 320 pixel game look good at these resolutions. Maybe if you just 2X doubled the graphics it could display at 640x480? I don't know. Then you'd have to box it out on 720? I don't know how it would work but using mixed resolutions is horrible to me (like having your background in low res tripled in size and then make your ship and enemies in HD like on the Mushihimesama ports). There's another possibility, and I'm not sure but I think that the 480 and 720 are mandatory but I don't know that it stops companies from adding something else, like original low res output option.

All new games for the system have to be developed to run at some very specific specs for example 4:3 31k and 16:9 720p will be universally supported on all games. So you can switch between 4 games at once like Neo-Geo and buy new games on the system knowing it will work on your setup.
Huge if true. Where did you get this from?
Uh, secret?

I dont know how they scaled it but the low res ports on 360 looks great in 480p when adding a scanline generator.

Super Hydorah will be the second release on exA.

It's a fun game and follows that classic style you can just jump strait into, demo version is available for PC if you want try.

I wonder what changes they will make for the AC edition, for starters a demo play mode for to show off all the levels..

I would also love to see Graze Counter AC version from Bikkuri Software.

An even bigger smile on my face than usual playing Under Defeat on my NNC this afternoon, knowing I could be playing a brand new G-rev game on it in a year or two. I honestly thought shmups died in 2012. :awe:

I had said in one of the other threads that new style graphics didn't interest me but this company appears to be worthy of their heritage in at a minimum refining the visual aesthetic of toaplan, raizing and cave so has got my attention. I wish them all the success in their endeavours. I just had a watch at a video of a2b and am disappointed regarding the patterns, i am aware that it's a mobile game and this is a proof of concept in some respects i just want to see something more sophisticated but i have been working on the documentation of the natural rules of geometric permutation and how they pertain to visual perception for over 2 years so it is a bit unfair for me to say that check https://www.IOIII.co.uk for a low-res teaser

The custom i/o and input lag negation/reduction is really interesting and be interesting to see what the specs are.

Cheers for the updates Joe or i would have been ignorant of this to my discredit, there's a video on YouTube that appears to be a preview demo at Mikado regarding the release of this, my phone is apparently too old to get it just now  (its 2 years old) oh well contracts up on a couple of months.

I know the demo is on a touchpad, but if a2b-R is a true 9:16 shmup, then I am very tempted.
Been waiting for a 9:16 shmup for a long time.

Edit: I just noticed they use the extra screen with score and gameplay gimmicks.....

I'd like to see a list of developers as well, that would really give a broader feel of what to expect in the future.
Due to NDA and marketing obligations, cannot reveal who they are but as shooter and arcade fans, I guarantee that 2018 and 2019 will be banner years.

Just don't expect anything Konami, namco or Taito as they are immediate rivals in this space.
