arcade shop TRY direct purchase query

Post by jugemscloud »

just wanted to know if anyone else had purchased direct from TRY if their standard practise was bank transfer and could confirm their bank details with me, and that they are still operating their pcb sales etc from their website despite the tower having closed.

I made an appointment a month ago when I was in Tokyo with the agreement that I was going to purchase a PCB with the exact money in yen.

Got to talk to the owner and go through my wants list and the shelves. A nice bunch of people working there, and depending on which way the wind is blowing and how good your Japanese is, they may or may not accept bank transfer or ship internationally. That's exactly how they explained it to me. Good luck!

I was always told that they absolutely, will not ship internationally (same with MAK, Kanaya, Surugaya, Beep, and G-Front).. Has this changed? As far as I know, none of them speak any English and aren't equipped to handle any problems that arise. If something does come up, you're on your own - because they definitely don't give refunds on faulty equipment once it leaves the shop .. (I've tried).. :(

my comms were entirely in japanese and initiated my myself, i was aware of the gaijin aspect and cultural heritage (pcbs are the embodiment of the technology age, and should bet given special consideration in this regard IMO) so was super careful to present myself well, and it looks like its worked if they are still active as a shop and willing to sell to me. cheers for the replies.

just annoying that i can't get to the bank before friday so there is a little delay in completing the transition on my part

yeah i haven't set up online banking with my account as paypal or my card suffices for 99.9% of transactions, and i don't really want to as i don't trust it and see it as a superfluous convenience that gives a potential avenue of fraud/theft that i can avoid

Great pick-up  I've been buying from Try regularly via FromJapan. Absolutely no hassle there and with their new flat rate fees the overhead is minimal.

cheers stompp, I've used fromjapan to buy from BEEP before but i thought TRY was more restrictive and wouldn't deal with an intermediary, hence why i went with direct communication. there was a £20 IBAN fee which would have been more or less what from japan fees would be the last time i used them and probably a little less after factoring in domestic postage and repackaging (i always did this with them just to be 100% with pcbs) but definitely not necessary with TRY as the packaging was perfect.

i kind of want to buy from MAK just to see if they remember the Raizing completu guy from 2015 - me with my bakraid (purchased from there) being interviewed for a tokyo tv station at Oedo antiques market for a section called, what do gaijin buy??? explaining what a pcb was and why it cost over 60k yen

i just concluded a deal on some even rarer things to be collected next month so stay tuned for my further adventures (these reside within the eu at least) :awe: ;)

awww mannnn i wanna get a V-V board at non nose bleed prices as well as Outzone :D.

Looks good

Anyways I have wanted to order from TRY and MAK in the past but i kept hearing you cant order from them. Maybe thats just their way of keeping the casuals at bay and not dealing with exports as much. (like if your really serious im and prove it im sure they would sell to you why wouldnt they)
