Aero City Monitor Bezel Repros

Post by Sunder »

I was thinking what are your thoughts on me doing a small batch of Aero City Monitor Bezels?
Any interests in that? Will try and make a plug based off the bezel I have and vacuform a plastic sheet over it.

Tell me about it!
No promises on how tough it'll be just yet, but I think we can manage a beefier one.

I'll be checking it with a guy in Hungary who has a couple of Swings.
We haven't started on it yet as the holidays are just over and work is rushing in (I own a concept art/animation studio).
As the existing bezel is just way too fragile, I probably wouldn't be able to make a plug/mold off them directly, even with the releasing agent. We'll have to make some from scratch here. :)

What about 3D printing bezels? Anyone thought about 3D scanning bezels an then printing them?

You'll need a large as 3d printer, also it won't be sturdy enough, you might also have to glue em together. The only way we can have both strength and form would be vacuuforming it. There's also fiberglass, but you'd need to lay it on really thick and the results aren't satisfactory for a bezel.

Not to mention how laborious the whole printing process is. Trust me, best way to go is all analogue with this one.

I just checked as I just got one from that friend of mine, it is not at all. Dimensions are a little different in general (sides are generally thinner on the Swing). The quality and plastics is exactly the same though. I might think about making it as it's pretty numerous here.

Aero City ones are a priority now since it seems to be the most plentiful type of cab here and the bezel is pretty ****.
I'll see about making similar ones (Pony 28, Swing) to that once I get this down. Got a few sheets of plastics to test out the best one for the job.

The repros are currently under way. I'll keep you guys up to date on the mold process and pressing.

I'm pretty confident you will sell at least 9 of the 28" bezels. ;)

Cool! Keep me posted about the swing, or if you MVS-U4 ones.

I'll have to get some exact bezel measurements of those two very rare cab you mentioned.

If only I knew them. But I'm quite sure they're the same as the bezels of the Pony 28".
