Here are my favs,

super puzzle fighter II x cps2
mushihimetama, since its a cave game you will have to rob a bank before purchase
pnickies cps1 (this one should be extraordinary hard to obtain, let me know if you managed)
puyo puyo sun ST-V
hanagumi taisen ST-V (if someone has this for sale, please PM)
puzz loop, (kaneko super nova, not very graphically pleasing, but extremely addicting, once you start this you wont be able to stop)
pop 'n pop taito F3 (maybe, but i am pretty sure its taito)

if you liked magical drop 3 you should check out money idol exchanger on the mvs

A very cheap, yet equally good game is the classic: Puzzle Bobble for the NeoGeo MVS

Yeah, MPE is awesomely intense in two player.

For single player I like Tetris Plus 1 and 2 atm. It's a grower.

Volfied, updated and vastly improved version of qix - section cutting fill em up. Lovely tech-organic sprite work and nice sound effects that are reminiscent of the Williams 80s synth sound. Gameplay was programmed by the guy that did bubble bobble and rainbow islands

Magical Drop 3! For the Neo Geo MVS is brilliant and cheaper than Money Puzle Exchanger! 2 is also good but, you know... get the latter game.

Yeah MD3 is great. MPE is more fun in 2 player but MD3 feels like a more complete single player game. Japanese version is best, setting the MVS to English removes a lot.

Whenever they rerelease a Magical Drop game it seems to be number 2. I wonder why that is.

thanks for all your recommendations so far.

Magical Drop 2 and 3 I got both on Neo Geo AES.

so money idol exchanger is definitely an option - quite expensive though ^^

I will also check out the other games mentioned!

A game mode, all the unique voices and sound effects (kinda ruins The Tower), and animations like the title screen book opening up have been cut. There's no reason for that last thing, it just goes to show how careless the localisation is.

And as usual with Neogeo games, the translation to English is pointless. A whole bunch of character dialogue gets replaced with something like "You cannot pass". Just play it in Japanese, if you want English language then make something up, as that's all the translator did.
