Jamma to RGB scart for capture - what do I need?

Post by tzakiel »

I'll want the jamma audio and video going through to the cabinet but also going out for capture on my RGB compatible capture card at the same time. Any tips?

Would something like this work?

What's your current setup?

As far as I can tell the one you link to does not do audio via scart and I'm also unsure whether it outputs video simultaneously to both the monitor and scart.

I want to do the same thing when I have the time, but I will simply make myself a RGB passthrough with a breakout to VGA for video and a breakout for audio as well.

I use a jpac or real PCB to the jamma connector in my blast city. My capture card is a micomsoft that accepts RGB via a scart adapter to the mini-D connector thing on it.

You're right it doesn't look like it passes audio to the SCART. Damn.

You can always just wire it from your jamma harness (rgb and audio) to a scart connector. Make sure you're making it passthrough with a breakout to your scart connector and you're done. Should only cost you a few bucks on parts.

That will work but you will loose brightness iirc. You usually want something that duplicates the signal and brings it down to 75ohms as arcade stuff is TTL level iirc.

I think the loss of brightness will be very minimal. For jamma to scart you will need 150 ohm resistors on the rgb and sync lines. Found a schematic via google which makes it pretty clear:
