I've never actually hooked up and used a PCB. I did pick up a very cheap one to test my new cabinet with. I do plan on picking up more expensive ones.
- Do I hook it up bare? Does it need to be mounted or something or can I just stand it on its edge and lean it against wall inside the cab? Will this damage it?
- any other tips for maintainence or storage, things to look out for or I should be aware of?

Re: PCB newbie questions
Depends on the cab. If it's standing on its side, there shouldn't be an issue, but even then I'd still be careful if your cabinet has metal sides inside (like most candy cabs do). In my old wood cab I just rested the PCB's on the side, but in my New Astro City, I use the wooden board you can slide in with PCBs on them.
But instead of screwing PCB feet onto it, I just made two hooks that I can hang them in from the upper edge of the board. Makes it really simple to switch out PCBs often.
I'd buy PCB feet for every PCB that don't have them though. They are really cheap, and I think it helps a lot with handling the PCBs in a cab.

Re: PCB newbie questions
Also, you can buy a PCB holder and attach it to the wooden board. (If you have the board?)
Then its very easy to change PCBs.

Mine are just standing inside the cabs, leaning to the wooden board. No issues so far.

Re: PCB newbie questions
These guys know their stuff.
If you just want to test your cabinet, using a piece of cardboard between the PCB and what's underneath works well if you're scared (like many are in the beginning). I have wooden floors in my apartment, so I just make sure the game board's not leaning agains anything conductive.

Re: PCB newbie questions
Thanks all. I am not sure if my blast will come with a wood board or not. It's a Blast City, do they usually come with one? In any case, what sort of screws or pegs do I need?
