Ibara - because it's a Raizing game at heart (with some cave girls tossed in to trick people into playing it).

Learning a Cave game is like a full-time job if you want to get decent results, I find them such hard work. The only one I have ever put any time into has been Mushi1 Original mode, mainly because there isn't any funky scoring mechanic to work out. I used to have about 6 Cave PCBs back in the early 2000's when they used to be £100, but I never really clicked with any of them to put any real time into them so I sold off the lot. Thats why I love the Psikyo Shoot em' up's, they have a good mix of modern bullet design and with a simple scoring system.

I own a few now:

DoDonpachi
Espgaluda II
DoDonpachi Daifukkatsu
Mushimisama
Mushimisama Futari
Akai Katana
Deathsmiles
Progear
Guwange

Got Ibara on the way and looking for a Ketsui...

My favourite is probably Guwange although I've been playing a lot of Akai Katana recently... Great mechanics with lots of depth but tricky to separate your mind to dodge bullets, whilst a filling the meter / controlling your option.

Is Ketsui worth getting? Is Esprade good too? I also quite like the look of Dodonpachi dai-ou-jou but don't know if it's too similar to the ones I already own.

Chances are if you already got 10 cave pcbs, you either will enjoy the rest, or don't need any more. Are you able to 1CC or score decently, or just sorta collecting? I ask because it would effect which I'd recommend and whether to call DOJ and Ketsui "worth it".

They have a very similar vibe since they were made around the same time. Ketsui has those wobbling bullets and very straightforward aggressive mechanics, while DOJ is just balls hard DDP with a darker look. They are both on the higher end of cave's quality spectrum, but will slaughter someone not able to put serious time into learning the games. ESPrade is pretty awesome and fairly unique since it was made during that time cave was experimenting a little. Great art, atmosphere, and style, for the $200-250 it runs I'd say definitely worth it if you are a fan.

Grab Ketsui asap.
Simple to understand scoring system, looks a bit dull and grey but more than makes for that with awesome bullet patterns .
Pumping soundtrack, difficulty gets gruesome after level 3 onwards .
What more could you want ?

Burn the rest !

I'm not a pro player like you but i agree on mushi1, it's my fave, great design and music. I love stage 3, the music, the "all a big boss"...
I like to play other cave games too, even if i don't bother about scoring or 1cc... i just play because i like to play them once in a while and i want to check how far i can go, even if i'm quite sure i will never 1cc them.
I'm talking about games like Ketsui, Doj and Progear... i quite like MMP, Deathsmiles and Guwange too (thanks xbox360).

I own
- Esp Ra.De.
- Espgaluda
- Espgaluda II
- Mushihimesama
- Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
- Ibara
- Deathsmiles
- Muchi Muchi Pork!
- Guwange
- Ketsui

Guwange is my favorite...it's the most original game they've made and in my opinion a piece of art. Besides Guwange I also love Ketsui and Espgaluda. I also believe Mushihimesama is better than Mushihime Sama Futari.
Who am I kidding? I love just about all Cave games.
