Ketsui vs DoDonpachi Dai-ou-jou Black Label
I've got a PGM and Espgaluda, which I really like. What is considered to be better, Ketsui or Do Donpachi Dai-ou-jou Black Label? The only other Cave game I've played is Dodonpachi on the Saturn, and I'm not sure which of the other titles are supposed to be best? Isn't one of them hellishly difficult?

They are easy to compare:
Ketsui is 20 bucks more expensive.

I'd take Ketsui any day.
I actually prefer the original DoDon to any of the sequels ... well except for the ketsupachi on the 360.
But that's just my personal preference.

Thread cleaned so its about the games, not a marketplace for the destruction of original hardware.

I think there is a compareable thread at shmups11.
Read it some years ago, can't remember what it is about.
Is DOJ the poor man's Ketsui? [ great topic ]

Ketsui all the way. Ketsui's one of Cave's finest. DOJ BL is better than plain DOJ, but not worth the increase in price (if we're talking PCBs), and far from my favorite in the DonPachi series.

Re: Ketsui vs DoDonpachi Dai-ou-jou Black Label
I was thinking of maybe importing Ketsui for the PS3, but somewhere I ready about input lag.
Can anyone confirm whether this is the case?
I am not great at these games, so anything that would make them more tricky might be a deal breaker for me

Re: Ketsui vs DoDonpachi Dai-ou-jou Black Label
They're two very similar games really, hard to compare.
Graphics are very similar, leaning on the darker more gritty side of what cave has to offer - mechanical and sinister.
Music is excellent in both, DOJ is a little more ethereal while ketsui rocks a bit harder - both final stages have standout songs.
Challenge is very close, first loop is on the mid-to-upper spectrum of cave difficulty (for both games).
Gameplay mechanics are slightly more complex in DOJ due to the hyper system, 6 ship types, and 2 bomb methods.
Bullet patterns are the main difference - in Ketsui patterns have this very strange organic arching and wobble, while DOJ has more of the direct and straight trajectories.
Both games are available on japanese xbox, they are not region free.
