London Arcades

Post by ninjawyatt »

I am visiting London tomorrow and Friday, specifically Camden. Is anybody familiar with this area? If so, where can I get my arcade fix? I am willing to travel outside of Camden to satisfy my desires - I have already told my misses that I'm not going unless we go to an arcade.

Failing that, you only have the heart of gaming pretty much.
Bore her? Nah. I wouldn't be in there all day...... at least, I would try not to be.

The Heart of Gaming? Tell me more...

That looks really cool, wasn't at all expecting all those Candy Cabs! Unfortunatly I didn't really get enough time to venture down, time seems to go so fast in London - so much to do! Camden is pretty cool though, stumbled across a decent comic book store, which was a nice suprise.

I did however get an arcade fix, because we passed through Picadilly. Gave her a beat down on Outrun 2, and also racked up a win on Guitar Hero - which was too close for comfort!

I seem to remember OR2 looking graphically better last time I Played it...

Outside of the HOG they have all gone. There's the remnants of an arcade at Namco Station by the London eye but honestly it's not worth the trip.... Funland, Casino gone. even the Play2Win places have taken out most of the video games :(

The only place i thought was left was Las Vegas in Soho but the last time i was there was a year ago and I don't know if it's still there....

Maybe the cab you played this time had the LCD conversion? The low res Chihiro version looks crap on these displays IMO especially in stretched widescreen :palm:

Low res chihiro version? I thought all OR2 cabs were running on chihiro? I didn't realise there were variations, but I'm presuming you know a considerable amount more than me, judging by youe profile pic ;) Maybe the one I played was an updated F355 cab, or did the arcades just have specific dedicated OR2 cabs? They look prettty similar to me and I dont think I would spot the difference anyway.

Or maybe it just looks dated, as its been so long since I've played it. It just seem to look really pixelated, I'm sure I've seen smoother Mega-Drive games.
